Liverpool Fixtures: Reds face gruelling five-match away run in April

When club action resumes following the international break, we will be truly into the business end of the season, with every game a final as Liverpool chase two more trophies in Jurgen Klopp's final weeks.

After wrapping up the Carabao Cup in February, Liverpool's hopes of an unprecedented if always unlikely quadruple disappeared with Amad Diallo's late winner in the FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds are still hunting down Europa League and Premier League glory over the course of the next two months.

The latter, of course, remains the big one that would mark a perfect sign-off for Klopp, though the Europa League — the only major competition the German has entered but not won as Reds manager — would be a significant achievement too.

With the final set to take place in Dublin on Wednesday, 22 May, after the conclusion of the domestic season, that match could yet prove to be Klopp's final ever game in charge of Liverpool.

However, while it is only natural to daydream about Irish parties, open-top bus parades and the perfect final episode for the film crew documenting Klopp's farewell, there is still a lot of hard work to do first.

Starting with Brighton at home on 31 March after the end of this month's international hiatus, Liverpool face ten more Premier League games and at least two more Europa League ties — though (hopefully) that number could increase to five — over the following two months.

That is a lot of football packed into not so many days.

Reds run gauntlet with April road trip

As fans scour the fixture list at what's to come, there is one particular block that stands out.

In the two-week period between Thursday 18 April and Thursday 2 May, Liverpool could face a run of five consecutive away games.

That begins with the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Atalanta on 18 April, followed by a trip to Craven Cottage the following weekend.

That fixture in London is scheduled for Sunday 21 April, having been moved from Saturday as a result of the Reds' European involvement.

Klopp's men are already set to go to West Ham the following Saturday (27 April), but after further rescheduling, they now face the trip across Stanley Park to take on Everton on the Wednesday beforehand.

Should Liverpool progress to the Europa League semi finals, the first leg against Benfica or Marseille will then take place away from home on 2 May, concluding a tricky run on the road.

After that, Klopp's Reds will face just one more game away from home: at Villa Park, currently set for 11 May.

All fixtures are, of course, subject to change.

Though the prospect of such an away run appears daunting, only Arsenal and Manchester City have picked up more points on the road in the Premier League than Liverpool this season with 29 compared to the Reds' 28.

Klopp's side have also lost the fewest away league fixtures (2).
