Liverpool will have to go to WAR for star to replace Robertson
A new left-back has been on the Reds' shopping list for a number of months now after disappointing performances have left Liverpool more defensively open than usual.
For years, the club relied on Andy Robertson to deliver and through his solid defending and keen-ness to delve forward at every opportunity, Jurgen Klopp had created a monster at the back.

When he arrived on Merseyside from Humberside for just £10m, fans had no idea what to expect from the Scottish international, although they could take solace in the fact that his acquisition fee was so small that Liverpool could afford to pay the price if the transfer went wrong.

But almost eight years later, Robertson has outproved his value almost 10 times over, competing at the highest level as a servant of the club for the majority of his career, while keeping his performance levels consistent throughout that time.
However, this season we have seen him significantly dip in form, and now that he has entered his 30s, it seems right that Liverpool dip into the transfer market once again to freshen up the position and give the Scottish captain the chance to end his career on a high with his workload supplemented.
Although signing a replacement is easier said than done.
Three clubs battle Liverpool for Ait-Nouri's signature
Amongst the names considered to join the Reds as the club's new left-back is Wolves' Rayan Ait Nouri, who has excelled in the Premier League this season, despite the Birmingham club's misfortunes across the campaign so far.
The 23-year-old is defensively solid at the back, while also having the same freedom to roam forward to assist the team in attacks - like Robertson has.
Across the campaign so far, he has four goals and five assists, which puts him third on the club's Premier League goalscorer list.
Sadly, the price of fullbacks has skyrocketed since Liverpool were last in the market for one, with Wolves looking for £40m if they are to let the Algerian move on, although the threat of relegation could persuade him to abandon ship and force a move away.
In addition, while Liverpool will present a compelling case to him, the club will have a serious battle on their hands if they are to get a deal done.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are now in contention, joining the Reds, Arsenal and Manchester United as admirers of the young defender.
It's stick or twist this season for Wolves and Ait Nouri, as the player's contract runs out in 2026, although there is an option to extend his deal by a further year.
However, the closer we get to his contract expiring, the less likely it is that Wolves would be able to secure the price tag they are looking for.

As the Premier League leaders, who are also competing in European football every year, Liverpool should fee confident that a deal can be done if Ait Nouri is the standout candidate to become the Reds' new left-back, but the longer it takes for that understanding is reached, the more complicated a move becomes.
