Federico Chiesa has had his say on the age-old debate comparing Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.

Chiesa was quizzed in the stands during a Juventus game on who he'd prefer to have in his side, and giving Liverpool legend Gerrard as his answer, he is already loved by Reds fans as he travels to Merseyside to complete his move.

"Stevie G", was Chiesa's simple answer back in 2022, which little did he know back then would help warm himself to his new fans quickly two years on.

The Italian is currently on his way to Liverpool to complete a deal from Italian giants Juventus for a fee in the region of £10 million plus £2.5 million add-ons.

CHIESA REACTS TO LIVERPOOL MOVE

After being frozen out of Juventus Manager Thiago Motta's squad, Chiesa was eager for a move out of Turin and immediately said yes to Liverpool when The Reds approached the Italian side earlier this week.

Earlier today Chiesa was spotted on the way to the airport to fly to Merseyside in order finalise his transfer to Anfield and expressed his delight for his move to the club.

"I'm really happy for this new adventure. I'm really happy and my family and I can't wait," Chiesa said.

The 26 year-old will bolster Liverpool's already-impressive attacking ranks and will provide valuable cover for Mohamed Salah, a position Liverpool lack in, considering talented youngster Ben Doak is set to leave the club on loan.

Chiesa can operate across the front three, which will be just as valuable as his ability to play on Liverpool's right side.

The Italian was a key figure in his nation's European Championships triumph back in 2021 but has missed a large chunk of game time because of injury since.

However, the demands on him playing every minute of every game won't be there at Liverpool which should help manage his fitness and enable him to be a very useful asset at Arne Slot's disposal.

The winger's injuries are hopefully a thing of the past with him playing 2,206 minutes for Juventus last season, more than the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai played for Liverpool.
