Liverpool are closing in on a move for Federico Chiesa and it could change the fate of a 'special' Liverpool talent.

From the beginning of the window, Liverpool have wanted to bolster Arne Slot's attacking options.

An opportunistic move for Anthony Gordon was explored towards the end of June, and the Reds have been keeping an eye on the market ever since.

Now it feels like Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards have finally found their man. Chiesa is edging closer to a move to Anfield, and he's someone the club has liked for years.

But while the move is an exciting one, and an absolute bargain, it will change the fate of one very talented Liverpool youngster at the club.

Naturally, Chiesa's arrival will mean more competition in attack in Slot's Liverpool squad. This could see players on the fringes of the club looking to depart before the end of the window.

One of those players could be Ben Doak, who is highly rated by Liverpool and has previously been described as a 'special' talent by Liverpool U21 coach, Barry Lewtas, as per the Liverpool ECHO.

Doak has already made his senior debut for Liverpool but struggled with injuries last season to make an impact in the first team.

Now the Daily Mail reports that if Chiesa is signed by Liverpool, it could see Doak moving out on loan and leaving the club temporarily.

Both Championship and Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in the 18-year-old winger who will weigh up his options.

The priority for Doak will be to get regular minutes and experience a proper taste of first team football. Long term, the goal will remain to make it in the Liverpool first team squad.

If he can stay injury free and catch the eye this season while out on loan, that will remain a tangible possibility.
