Liverpool fear club will cost them Alphonso Davies transfer
Liverpool do want to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich but fear the Canadian has his eyes on another club.
This comes from 90min. They claim that Liverpool are one of a host of clubs currently hoping to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.
Chelsea and Manchester City join them in that as the Canadian heads towards the final year of his contract in Germany. That deal expires in 2025, opening the door for a move next year. Bayern are highly unlikely to risk losing him for free, after all, and could cash-in if no new contract comes about.
However, the English trio are all under the impression that Davies could be off the market already. They believe he wants to move to Real Madrid - something that has been suggested since the summer.
While all three clubs will supposedly still try, the door could be shut.
While Liverpool don't have an immediate need for Davies at left-back, it's still very possible that they have another plan in mind. That's certainly not the only position he can play, after all.
In fact, Davies was a midfielder in his youth and has played on the wing. He was a left-sided midfielder at the World Cup for Canada, too, where impressive performances had people talking.
And so Liverpool could potentially view Davies as an option in midfield. That makes a lot more sense than looking to replace Andy Robertson, after all, as there's no chance he'd arrive from Bayern as backup to the Scot.
Though, it's very likely that this is just a pipedream for Liverpool. Having Davies as an option on the cheap would be fantastic and they'd be right to keep the option open but other clubs can certainly offer him a bigger role.
This may be another one that Liverpool lose out on to Real Madrid.
