Revealed: Liverpool set for MASSIVE profit from Fabio Carvalho transfer

Liverpool have agreed to sell Fabio Carvalho to Brentford and one journalist has broken down the exact profit the Reds will make from the deal. 

Despite a strong loan spell at Hull City last term and a positive pre-season under new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, Carvalho will leave Anfield permanently this summer - just two years after his arrival from Fulham.

The Portugal youth international was linked to a host of other Premier League clubs, including newly-promoted duo Southampton and Leicester City, but he will now return to west London instead.

The Reds had rejected a £15m bid from Southampton for Carvalho's services as they held out for a larger fee and it's a good thing that they did, with Brentford eclipsing the Saints' bid on Saturday.

LIVERPOOL TO MAKE MONSTER CARVALHO PROFIT

Liverpool journalist Paul Joyce has broken down just how much Liverpool will earn from the sale of Carvalho, with the Reds set to land a tidy profit.

Liverpool will receive a guaranteed fee of £22.5m for Carvalho with the possibility of an additional £5m in add-ons. They have also agreed a 17.5% sell-on clause.

However, Fulham will earn 20% of the profit made on Carvalho over £5m, which roughly equates to £2.1m without the add-ons and £3.1m if all the add-ons end up being paid by Brentford.

The Reds spent £7m on Carvalho from Fulham back in 2022 meaning that even if Brentford don't have to pay any additional money in add-ons, Liverpool are guaranteed a minimum profit of £13.4m.

That fee will rise to £17.4m if Brentford end up paying the maximum amount in add-ons.

With or without add-ons, Liverpool are guaranteed to make an impressive profit on Carvalho given his limited impact for the first team.

Carvalho only made 21 appearances for the Reds, scoring just three times, and only eight of those were starts.

While it's a shame things didn't work out for Carvalho at Anfield, it does offer Liverpool funds to spend in the remaining weeks of this summer's transfer window.

Liverpool are still pushing to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £51m and could bolster their squad further before the window slams shut.
