Teenage winger is joining Liverpool's first team and he’s incredible
An incredible teenage winger is joining Arne Slot's first team squad and he is one fans will be hearing a lot more of.
Liverpool have a lot of talent in the academy at the moment. There's an abundance really, thanks to the brilliant work that has been done by Alex Inglethorpe, who has been at the helm for almost a decade now.
Liverpool FC News Today: CRAZY deal eyed as club boss confirms he’s ready to sell left-back
With his leadership, Liverpool have brought through the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Conor Bradley and Caoimhin Kelleher.
Meanwhile, others like Trey Nyoni, Jayden Danns, Jarell Quansah and Rio Ngumoha are on the brink of breaking into the first team.
But they are not alone. There's another exciting young talent who has just joined the Reds' first team squad and he is another incredible talent.
Why Trent Kone-Doherty is an incredible talent
Over the last few years, Liverpool's recruitment has been really impressive around the domestic market at academy level. Consistently, the club has brought in some of the most talented 15 and 16 year olds in their age groups.
This was the case when Trent Kone-Doherty was signed, who at 15 years old was already sitting on Derry City's first team bench and regularly training with the club's senior team.
He's been an instant his ever since he arrived. At academy level, Kone-Doherty has 29 goals and six assists in his 64 appearances for the U18, U19 and U21 sides for Liverpool.
A rapid winger, who is very comfortable taking players on in one vs one situations, Kone-Doherty is still only 18 years old.
Born in 2006, he hasn't quite gotten the recognition that some of his teammates have received from the Reds' brilliant U18 team last season from where both Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns have earned significant minutes at senior level.
Kone-Doherty is on par with their incredible talents though. One of the most brilliant and unique aspects about him is that he is equally confident with both feet.
That's why although he is predominantly right-footed, he can also play on the right-wing and cut onto his left foot in typical Mo Salah fashion to score wonder goals like the one below.
Now, he's finally set to receive his recognition at first team level as well. Kone-Doherty is joining the Liverpool squad that is travelling to PSV ahead of the Reds' last Champions League encounter.
Whether he makes an appearance remains to be seen, but this is a huge step up for the talented teenage winger.
It's an opportunity to make his mark in the first team just like Koumas and Danns have done before him.
And he will be raring to go. This season, Europe has been where he has excelled at youth level scoring important goals against Bayer Leverkusen and Girona in the UEFA Youth League - meanwhile last season he got four goal contributions in five matches in the same competition.
That kind of form hints there could be something special on the cards if he does make his bow for the Reds against PSV.
Either way, if you're looking to watch him in action the game will be broadcasted live on TNT Sports 3.
