Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday after kickstarting their Carabao Cup defence in sublime fashion against West Ham United in midweek.

The Reds will travel to Molineux to face a struggling Wolves side who are yet to record a win this season.

Slot's side will be looking to continue on from where they left off in their 5-1 triumph over Julian Lopetegui's West Ham on Wednesday.

Liverpool take on a Wolves side who currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League with just one point, albeit they've had a tough run of fixtures as Arne Slot alluded to in his press conference on Friday morning.

Gary O'Neil's side have already faced away tests at Arsenal, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest whilst welcoming Chelsea and Newcastle to the Molineux.

"I don't think it represents the way they played and they had a very tough fixture list in the first five games.

"You always have to take this into account. Of course, I had to watch a few games of them because we play them tomorrow and I can see that even the games were very tight and they deserved more than they got a few times," the Liverpool boss said.

Bad to worse for Wolves

If it wasn't tough enough preparing to lock horns with Liverpool after the start they've had, Wolves are set to face the Reds with a depleted squad due to a virus hitting a number of their players, according to the BBC.

There is quite a bit of illness at the moment, there are a few who will need a check on how they are feeling. Quite a few missed training today [Friday].

"Some of the lads will struggle for tomorrow, whether they don't quite make it or are not fit enough to start. Sometimes it can clear up in 24 hours.

"We are hopeful that all of the guys who have had something over the last couple of days will be fine. But, as the doctors told me, at this stage it's difficult to give a definitive answer," O'Neil said.

Illness combined with Yerson Mosquera expected to be out for the season with a serious knee injury could see 20-year-old Alfie Pond, who made his full debut in the Carabao Cup defeat at Brighton last week, start against the second-placed Reds.

On the flip side, Liverpool have been handed an injury boost of their own, Alisson Becker has been declared back available for selection after a minor muscle injury ruling him out of the Reds' last two outings.
