The fallout of all three stars leaving for free would be catastrophic, but the club are reportedly still working to keep the trio in Merseyside beyond the end of the season.

Nothing is certain about the futures of any these Liverpool stars, but now one has made a demand of supporters amid ongoing contract negotiations.

Van Dijk makes ‘horrible’ demand

Liverpool are in poll position in the race for the Premier League title despite the ongoing uncertainty in the playing squad, and the club captain Van Dijk has made a request to the Anfield faithful.

“'How many home games are left? Seven out of 11. So, let's make sure those seven are going to be amazing, as loud as possible,” Van Dijk told the Daily Mail. “I think it only helps us and them [the supporters] as well to make Anfield horrible for the opponent.”

These comments were made prior to the Reds’ 2-0 home win over Newcastle and the harsh reality for Liverpool supporters is that the now six remaining home games could well be Van Dijk’s last at Anfield.

Arne Slot’s side already have one hand on the Premier League trophy, but making Anfield a ‘horrible’ place for visiting teams could well be what the Reds need to guarantee their 20th league title.

The future of Van Dijk

The Liverpool skipper has maintained a very calm public stance on his contract situation, and he’s remained professional on the pitch too.

A number of sides, including some in Saudi Arabia, have been linked with a move for the 33-year-old if a new deal can’t be agreed.

An extension is reportedly in the works however, and it could see Van Dijk become the highest paid centre-half in European football.

Van Dijk has already lifted one trophy as Liverpool captain, last year’s Carabao Cup, and he will have the chance to lift his second on 16 March when Liverpool face Newcastle in this year’s League Cup final.

The Premier League could follow soon after, and Van Dijk would become only the second man to captain Liverpool to a league title in over 30 years.

The Dutch defenders future isn’t certain, but Liverpool supporters will certainly grant their captain’s request and make the Anfield atmosphere as loud as possible for the final six home games of the league campaign.
