According to a report from The Times, Liverpool's priority first and foremost is not to renew Salah's contract.

Instead, the first priority is to tie down Virgil van Dijk to a new deal before coming to an agreement with the Egyptian.

On paper, given Van Dijk is the captain this would make sense in any other circumstance.

But in this situation, with Salah being by far and away the best player in the world right now this is a shocking stance to have.

Liverpool should absolutely be prioritising a deal for Mo Salah and trying to get him to agree a new deal before anything else.

This is a player in the prime of his career and he is someone who could strengthen any other rival in European football.

The club should be doing everything in their attempts to convince him to stay at Anfield for many years to come.

There is a bump in the road upcoming as Szoboszlai becomes the LATEST member of Liverpool’s midfield to serve a suspension.

With Alexis Mac Allister ruled out of Champions League and Premier League matches earlier this month, Szoboszlai is now set to serve a one-game domestic ban against West Ham.

Against Leicester on Thursday night, Szoboszlai picked up his FIFTH booking of the Premier League season after coming on as a substitute.

Any player booked five times in the opening 19 matches of the top-flight season incurs a one-match ban and the time has come for Szoboszlai to serve his suspension.

The playmaker will therefore play NO part in the upcoming Premier League game against West Ham on Sunday December 29 but will come back into contention for the Manchester United game on January 5.

Luis Diaz’s brother speaks out about ‘MALICIOUS’ lies over heartbreaking media reports

Diaz's father, Mane, who was abducted last year in Colombia was hospitalised on Thursday night back in their homeland.

He is reported to have suffered “a decompensation affecting the heart” and high blood pressure according to Caracol Radio who broke the news earlier on Thursday.

Diaz's father reportedly complained of severe chest pain and was taken by ambulance from Barrancas to San Juan de Cesar hospital, where he underwent treatment and is currently believed to be held.

There were a myriad of reports following the news that suggested Diaz's father had a heart attack, but this was not the case and one of Diaz's brothers has spoken out to correct the 'malicious' lies circulating on social media platforms.

Roller David Díaz took to his Instagram account as per AS to refute the rumours and send a very encouraging health update about his father.

“I don’t understand why there are people so malicious in slandering these things without knowing, my father is in very good health, thank God,” he wrote.
