Here's our Liverpool FC news roundup for Saturday, 3rd February 2024. The Reds will soon welcome Wataru Endo back.

Liverpool face Arsenal on Sunday - a mammoth clash at the top of the Premier League. Saturday, though, saw the Reds focusing on matches beyond that.

They finally learned when Wataru Endo will be back in the side, while a fixture change could end up hurting them. Then there's Kylian Mbappe making his decision ahead of the summer.

Here's our Liverpool FC news roundup.

Liverpool vs Luton

A fixture change currently leaves Liverpool at a disadvantage vs Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final later this month. It's one Jurgen Klopp must be smart about.

The Premier League announced on Saturday that Liverpool's clash with Luton Town later this month has been rescheduled for Wednesday 21st February. The game was always going to be rescheduled as it was set to be played the weekend of the Carabao Cup final.

Thus both Chelsea and Liverpool needed their fixtures that weekend shifted to new dates. We now know that the Reds will have just four days rest ahead of the final - down from the eight days they were set for.

Strangely, Chelsea's fixture against Tottenham Hotspur is yet to be rearranged. The fact it hasn't simply been put on the same week as Liverpool vs Luton suggests it won't be put that week.

Disney documentary

There's a new frontrunner to buy the upcoming Liverpool documentary on Jurgen Klopp's final season in charge. Netflix and Amazon have reservations.

The Daily Mail reports that Disney+ are now the frontrunners to buy the upcoming Liverpool documentary series. The Reds announced filming last week as camera crews will document Jurgen Klopp's final season in charge

Things will be produced by the same company behind the Diego Maradona documentary and many others, Lorton Entertainment. It comes six years after Klopp vetoed plans for the Reds to be a part of Amazon's All or Nothing.

However, the boss has assurances this time around that cameras won't be in private areas, such as the dressing room. It's that very assurance that has put off Netflix and Amazon, though.

Disney don't appear to have the same concerns and are supposedly willing to part with £10m to get the rights. Both Sky Sports and TNT declined to get involved due to the costs involved.

Wataru Endo return

Wataru Endo will return to Liverpool earlier than expected after Japan were eliminated from the Asian Cup. Here's when he could next play.

Japan were one of the major favourites to win the 2024 Asian Cup. Instead, they've bowed out to Iran at the quarter-final stage after conceding a 96th-minute penalty in a 2-1 defeat.

That leaves South Korea as overwhelming favourites to win the trophy - and the Japanese players heading for home.

Of course, Liverpool may welcome that news. Wataru Endo is going to return earlier than expected as at least a semi-final berth would have kept him out until next weekend.

Mbappe makes his choice

Paris Saint-Germain believe Kylian Mbappe has made a final decision on his future. The Frenchman has been linked with Liverpool.

This comes from Le Parisien. They report that there's now 'pessimism' at Paris Saint-Germain around Kylian Mbappe because they're certain he's made a decision to join Real Madrid this summer.

Mbappe is free to join whoever he wants in 2024 with the expiry of his PSG contract. That's led to all sorts of rumours for years over who he wants to join, with three clubs standing above the rest.

There's always the option of renewing with PSG, of course. Real Madrid have always been the favourites to land him, though, while Liverpool were the dark horse in the race.

Reds pass on Solet

Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool rejected the chance to sign Oumar Solet last month. That's despite tracking the player for some time.

Liverpool supposedly had the chance to sign Oumar Solet from RB Salzburg last month. That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who says there was internal talk of getting a deal done.

Solet is a 23-year-old centre-back for Salzburg, who has played with decent regularity over the last couple of years. That includes two Champions League starts this season.

The Reds have supposedly had him scouted for some time, hence the offer, but ultimately decided not to sign the Frenchman.
