Liverpool FC News Today: Szoboszlai injury TIMELINE, Salah update, target move CONFIRMED

A report in Hungary has claimed that Dominik Szoboszlai could be out for around four weeks with his current hamstring injury. However, there is debate about the true timeline for the midfielder's return.

Any absence for the 23-year-old would be a significant blow to Jurgen Klopp, who has leaned heavily on the Hungarian captain since completing his £60m signing from RB Leipzig in the summer.

A reoccurrence of the hamstring injury that he suffered in early January stopped Szoboszlai from taking part in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, while there has been speculation over how many games he could miss.

The club are yet to release any further information about the midfielder's injury but a an article in Hungarian outlet Index now declared that he could miss the 'next seven or eight' Liverpool matches, starting with this weekend’s league game against Burnley.

That report has, however, been disputed.

The former RB Leipzig has become a key cog in Klopp's engine room as both a creative and pressing force so far this season.

However, Liverpool do have options in his absence. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago and Harvey Elliott are just some of the players who could step up in Szoboszlai's absence, regardless of how long he is really out for.

Salah edges close to comeback with latest pics

Mohamed Salah is continuing his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury which ended his Africa Cup of Nations campaign back in January.

On Monday night, Salah posted gym pictures to his Instagram Stories, with the player working hard to be fit for the Reds’ title push, leaving fans speculating over a possible imminent return.

The Burnley game (Saturday, 10 February) will be three weeks and two days beyond the date of Salah's original injury.

Liverpool target will be sold this summer, PSV chief confirms

PSV will sell Liverpool target Johan Bakayoko in the summer transfer window, according to the club’s director of football Earnie Stewart.

Bakayoko, 20, is receiving “concrete interest” from Anfield, according to a report in  Voetbalkrant, and is currently valued at around €40m (£34m) with a contract until 2026.

Speaking to Dutch television show Studio Voetbal, when asked if he thought Bakayoko would be at the Philips Stadion next season Stewart said: "No, I don't think so."

claims.

For now, the Argentine retains the backing of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, the club’s co-owners, but he has a job on his hands to convince them that any real progress has been made under his watch. A review on the former PSG manager’s position is expected in summer.
