Fast forward to now and conversely, Slot is blessed with an abundance of supremely talented midfielders. In fact, the amount of talent the Reds have at their disposal at the moment seems a tad bit overindulgent at this stage.

Some of these extreme talents have barely gotten on the pitch because of the sheer competition for places in the squad.

That is why a young midfielder who oozes shades of Thiago is only going to get his opportunity in the first team now.

Arne Slot set to unleash Thiago-like Tyler Morton

Anfield Watch exclusively reported recently that Liverpool's Tyler Morton was the subject of interest from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The Reds were ready to sanction a move. However, with Martin Zubimendi's transfer falling through in the end it was decided that Morton would be kept in Slot's squad as added depth.

It's a decision that the Dutchman hasn't quite utilised yet. However, there is an opportunity against PSV Eindhoven for Slot to finally unleash Morton.

Earlier on in the season, Morton demonstrated his quality in the League Cup and for England's U21 side and many fans on social media pointed out his likeness to Liverpool's former Spanish maestro, Thiago.

The young midfielder learnt a lot from Thiago during his time at Liverpool and it's clear he implemented his style to his game.

Morton plays with the same level of intelligence and poise that Thiago used to enter the pitch with.

Of course physically he needs to improve and in time that will come as he grows older. But for now that brilliant football brain should be enough for him to showcase his talent vs PSV.

One good performance might also be enough for Morton to convince Slot to give him more opportunities - especially as the fixtures ramp up from now until the end of the season.

This is his opportunity and his time to make a mark. To show that he really truly is an absolute Thiago regen.
