The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls in a row and three of the last five starting in 2019. In the 2022 final, Kansas actually defeated the Eagles, and it's clear Andy Reid's side holds hegemony in the NFL at the moment with super stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelcie.

On the other hand, the Eagles will be gunning for revenge and desperate to lift their first Super Bowl title since 2017, when a bit of magic from their back-up quarter-back, Nick Foles helped them defeat the New England Patriots.

The Eagles were underdogs back then, and they are underdogs right now.

Why the Super Bowl matters for Liverpool

In many ways, you can draw parallels between Liverpool and the Eagles. This season, Liverpool, just like the Eagles, are hoping to put an end to a very dominant side that has collected a lot of Premier League titles in the last few years.

Eagles fans are passionate. They really go all the way to cheer for their team and create a tremendous atmosphere in the ground.

They have a very talented team as well with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown.

But there is more at stake for Liverpool than just parallels. There are omens riding on the Super Bowl.

Last summer's pre-season tour took Arne Slot's side to Philadelphia. In the game played inside the Eagles' Lincoln Financial Field stadium, Liverpool defeated Arsenal.

Before the game, the Reds also trained and linked-up with the Eagles' star, who were also preparing for their NFL campaign ahead of the season.

In the pictures, the likes of Mo Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones can be seen posing with Jalen Hurts, CJ Gardner-Johnson and Avonte Maddox.

Later, Saquon Barkley was also pictured promoting Liverpool's new Nike away kit, which the club posted on its official channels.

This collaboration means Liverpool should at least have a sentimental spot for the Eagles. The Americans had welcomed them in with open arms and that should mean something.

But there is also a more esoteric reason why Liverpool should hope the Eagles do win in New Orleans. A reason that will only make sense to those who believe in fate and destiny.

Because if the Eagles win, it would mean the Reds' own Premier League title success is written in the stars, and those pictures in Philadelphia will go down in history.
