Liverpool fans have delivered their verdict on the Reds’ squad heading into this season. The club have not made a single signing.

Liverpool are the sole club in Europe's top seven leagues who haven't made a signing in 2024. Or to put it another way, the Reds are the sole club in Europe's top seven leagues whose only changes to their squad of last season are outgoings.

And given no players left who played a significant number of games last season, this is essentially the exact same squad as it was a year ago. It's something you very rarely see in the modern game at any level - and here's one of the biggest clubs in the world doing it.

What's notable about it is just how close Liverpool were last season to winning everything. They were on for the quadruple at one stage, with only a bad month or two really stopping them from an incredible season.

The sense was that small changes would push Liverpool up a level. It didn't need to be an overhaul - just incremental change.

Now, the thing there is that Liverpool actually have brought that incremental change. They've done so in two areas - one with a new manager and another by simply putting a year of experience on a young squad.

Liverpool's squad is superior to last season, even without the signings. But how good is it? Other teams have improved, after all, so what should we all expect from the upcoming campaign?

We asked Liverpool fans for their verdict on X - and here's what they said.

Liverpool fans give their verdict on Reds' squad

6,666 fans responded to our poll on Wednesday/Thursday and 60% agreed that Liverpool's squad currently sits within the four best in the Premier League. So not counting managers, potential injuries or any other outside factors, the Reds should really finish within the top four.

Around 17% voted for each of top two or top six, again lending itself to the belief that this is really a top four squad. Very few feel this is a squad beneath the European places, with only 5% claiming this squad isn't even in the six best around.

All in all, it is encouraging to see this kind of optimism. Liverpool are relying on their own players developing over the season under Arne Slot, but even without that development, fans are confident of at least maintaining a Champions League spot in the boss's first season.

And if a few players do kick on an improve, then maybe Liverpool can aim a little higher still.
