Liverpool FC News: Roy Keane amazed by Reds' 'sexy football' vs Brighton
Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League table by beating Brighton 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Anfield.
The Reds secured all three points despite falling behind after less than two minutes, with strikes from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah sending Jurgen Klopp's side back to the summit.
While there were nervy periods at the start and end of the match for Liverpool, they were good value for their victory against a resilient Brighton side led by potential Klopp successor Roberto De Zerbi.
The Reds played some beautiful football on Merseyside at the weekend, even leaving former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane stunned by their sensational winning goal.
ROY KEANE LOVED LIVERPOOL'S 'SEXY FOOTBALL'
Keane rarely eulogizes over Liverpool's performances - or any team's displays in fact - but the Sky Sports pundit was quick to heap praise on the Reds' winner on Sunday.
Virgil van Dijk played the ball out wide to Dominik Szoboszlai with 25 minutes to go at Anfield and the Hungarian rifled a fierce pass into the feet of Alexis Mac Allister just outside the penalty area.
The former Brighton midfielder then produced a defence-splitting pass for Salah, who slotted home after an incredible ninth shot of the game at that stage.
"He is a smart footballer [Mac Allister], I’ll tell you that – I’m usually impressed with him and his decision making," Keane said on Sky Sports.
"And again, like anything else when you just speed things up in the final third. He gets it here, the execution, the weight of the pass, the first touch from Mohamed Salah – beautiful. Sexy football to me this, love watching it."
Liverpool will be hoping to play some similarly swashbuckling stuff when Sheffield United visit Anfield during the week, with a trip to Old Trafford to face Keane's beloved Man Utd coming next weekend.
The Reds are now in control of their own destiny in the title race, knowing that victory in all of their remaining games will see them crowned champions.
