Liverpool FC news recap: Slot on Pep, Van Dijk contract UPDATE
Here's all your latest Liverpool FC news.
Van Dijk answers banned question on his future
Van Dijk was answering questions for Viaplay after Liverpool beat Real Madrid 2-0 this week. He'd talked about all sorts - including not wanting to join Madrid next year.
One journalist took the chance to 'disobey' Liverpool's request, however, suggesting that Van Dijk being told not to talk about it was a sign.
Arne Slot on Pep Guardiola
'Not particularly because of him,' came Arne Slot’s immediate response when asked if the reason he came to the Premier League was to compete against the best managers in the world, Pep Guardiola being foremost of that.
It wasn’t a remark of disrespect or dismissal in any sense. Slot immediately followed up the comment on his Sky Sports ‘One-on-One’ interview with praise for the managerial maverick, saying “but he is one of the best managers in the world - maybe the best manager in the world - so it’s always nice that he stays in England”.
Alisson's new 'deal'
While he is still contracted until 2026, the 32-year-old is likely to be front and centre of yet another FSG contract crisis, should the club fail to act quickly in suring up his future.
Goalkeepers traditionally have longer shelf lives than outfield players, given the disparity in miles put in their legs on the pitch, but Alisson's injury record is not pretty, so it is no surprise that Liverpool have decided to make a move for Mamardashvili, although in doing so their have pretty blatantly alienated Kelleher.
Should Alisson want to remain at the club beyond 2026, his representatives will be charged with speaking directly to the club about contract talks.
It was announced last week that Alisson is to remain with his current representation - Neis World Sports.
Jurgen Klopp's house
Jurgen Klopp's old house in Liverpool has gone viral.
Based on Victoria Road in Freshfield, just a 30-minute drive from the AXA Training Centre and a 40-minute drive from Anfield, the house is perfectly located within the area.
In addition, the six-bedroom mansion is just minutes away from Formby Golf Club, where Klopp could unwind and gather his thoughts, and the Formby National Trust reserve on the coast of the Irish Sea.
Focusing back on the grand property, there are 21 windows looking out onto the substantial driveway as you walk up to the front door.
