Liverpool FC News Recap: Salah injury update, Henderson's Ajax wages & Diaz appreciation

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool an almighty scare during Egypt's 2-2 draw with Ghana on Thursday night, the winger coming off with a hamstring injury at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt boss Rui Vitoria has offered a positive update on Salah's injury, suggesting the concern is "not dangerous". However, the true extent of the problem won't be known until further scans.

Given how infrequently Salah comes off injured for club or country, there is understandable fear among Reds fans about how long he could be missing amid Liverpool's title charge.

Jurgen Klopp has spoken with Liverpool's No. 11, but is not entirely sure about when he might return or the extent of his hamstring problem.

MORE INJURY UPDATES FROM JURGEN KLOPP

Salah is not the only fitness concern for the Reds at present, with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson still sidelined - among others.

However, unlike Salah, Klopp was able to issue positive updates on the return of the aforementioned Liverpool trio, although none of them will be fit for the trip to Bournemouth on Sunday.

The good news is that Szoboszlai, Alexander-Arnold and Robertson could all be available for the second leg of Liverpool's Carabao Cup semi-final with Fulham next Wednesday.

Klopp stated: "They are all positive but not ready. They are all going in the right direction and we're getting closer and closer.

"Trent [is] close, Dom close, Robbo close. All going in the right direction but for the weekend's game, no."

JURGEN KLOPP PRAISES LUIS DIAZ RESURGENCE

Luis Diaz has endured a difficult season on and off the pitch, but has resembled his former self in recent weeks, putting in strong performances since Christmas.

The Colombian produced an assist against Burnley on Boxing Day and smashed a late strike into the top corner against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round. In between was an impressive display against Newcastle United.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp was quick to praise Diaz for his recent displays, claiming the 27-year-old is now "back".

"He’s back, that’s good and pretty helpful. You can see it in each training session, it’s different," said the Liverpool boss.

As Liverpool prepare to travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League this Sunday, they can look forward to a reunion with an in-form Dominic Solanke.

The Cherries striker has been in blistering form of late, winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for December after a flurry of goals.

The former Chelsea man may come back to haunt Liverpool this weekend, but Klopp was keen to heap praise on the 26-year-old in his press conference.

"I'm so happy for Dom because when we signed him we were all so excited about the talent he had," said the German. "He is a really talented kid, I'm very happy for him."
