Here’s our Liverpool FC news recap for Saturday 11th May.

Liverpool also learned that they won't be winning the Premier League title after Manchester City's win over Fulham confirmed that mathematically. In truth, we'd all given up hope long ago.

In more positive news, we learned Liverpool's Player of the Month for April, while Kaide Gordon has a new long-term contract. A couple of bright spots.

Now, attention turns to Monday and Jurgen Klopp's final away fixture as Liverpool boss.

Here's our Liverpool FC news recap for Saturday.

Liverpool received a reminder this week as a top player linked with an exit was named Player of the Month. Luis Diaz shouldn't be allowed to leave easily.

Liverpool announced on Saturday that Luis Diaz is the Standard Chartered Player of the Month for April. The Colombian wins the award for the first time this season.

It's a deserved win for Diaz, with the announcement saying he won it pretty comfortably ahead of Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo. In a month when Liverpool struggled badly, he was a bright spark—even if things didn't entirely go his way.

Kaide Gordon has a new long-term contract with Liverpool. It comes after the youngster scored a wonderful brace.

Liverpool announced on Friday that Kaide Gordon has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Gordon, who is still only 19, signs it and the end of a torrid time.

The winger was a regular in the first-team squad at the start of 2022 but a hip injury kept him out for over a year. It's only really the last five months that Gordon has played consistent football again.

But it has been consistent. Gordon featured in every Premier League 2 fixture from January onwards - in fact, he played at least 86 minutes in all of them. He even had a runout in the senior side in 2024.

Slot to move into Klopp's house

© IMAGO - Arne Slot is expected to become the next Liverpool manager, replacing the departing Jurgen Klopp.

Arne Slot to Liverpool is imminent with news that he’s to replace Jurgen Klopp in more than one way this summer.

The next Liverpool boss hasn't been announced yet but it's not exactly a secret. Arne Slot will take up the mantle - he's even talking about it publicly.

"It's not quite done yet, but it will be a matter of days," Slot said this week.

"It takes more than a simple shopping list and going to the store. These kinds of things have to be timed properly. It hasn't been communicated yet, but don't worry, it will undoubtedly happen soon."

Jurgen Klopp has been accused of blaming the wrong people by Sky TV chief Mike Darcey following his most recent critique of fixture congestion and TNT Sports.

Speaking before the 4-2 win over Tottenham last Sunday, Klopp launched a brutal attack on broadcasters TNT Sports for their scheduling this season, criticising TV companies for the impact they have on fixture congestion and player welfare.

The 56-year-old has been particularly critical of playing in the 12:30 BST kick-off slot on a Saturday - something Liverpool have done with bizarre regularity this season.
