Here’s our Liverpool FC News recap for Wednesday, 3rd April. Jurgen Klopp delivered his injury update ahead of Sheffield United on Thursday.
Liverpool are back in action on Thursday with a trip to Sheffield United. It's a huge game, of course - but they all will be from here.
Jurgen Klopp shared his latest injury update on Wednesday ahead of that one. We also got some more news on Ruben Amorim - positive news, even.
Here's our Liverpool FC news recap.
Klopp shares injury update
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Curtis Jones is 'in contention' to face Sheffield United on Thursday night, while four more Liverpool stars are approaching full fitness again.
The Reds' injury crisis has caused issues for much 0f the 2023/24 season, with the majority of the first team spending some at least some time in the treatment room this season.
While Liverpool still have several players out of action for the immediate future, with games against Sheffield United and Manchester United to face in the coming week, Klopp has revealed that key stars Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota are all nearing returns to team training, along with youngster Stefan Bajcetic.

Barcelona can't afford Amorim
Ruben Amorim's release clause could be an 'impediment' for Barcelona in the race to land the highly rated manager, amid interest from Liverpool.
Following the news that Xabi Alonso is set to remain at Bayer Leverkusen for next season, Amorim — the current head coach of Sporting CP — quickly became the new favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.
Speaking after progressing to the Portuguese Cup final on Tuesday night, Amorim cryptically responded 'we'll see' when asked directly about his future beyond May.
However, much like Alonso, Amorim's admirers are not only on Merseyside.
Barcelona have also been named as possible contenders for the 39-year-old Portuguese, with Xavi Hernandez set to stand down from his role at Camp Nou this summer.

Nagelsmann doesn't want to follow Klopp
The Jurgen Klopp factor could cost Liverpool their next manager, it seems. At least one target doesn’t fancy it.
The Telegraph reports that Julian Nagelsmann could reject the chance to be the next Liverpool manager. At least one of his top reasons for doing so would be an unwillingness to follow Jurgen Klopp.
The task at hand is a mammoth one, after all. Liverpool are looking for someone to follow one of their greatest managers and possibly the most charismatic since Bill Shankly.
Klopp isn't just successful but boasts a connection with the fans that few managers have at any club. In other words, replacing him feels nigh-on impossible.
It's enough that Nagelsmann isn't sure. He's also a compatriot of Klopp's, making comparisons between the two inevitable. In fact, Nagelsmann has been dealing with comparisons of sorts his entire career.

Matip unlikely to return
Jurgen Klopp confirmed Joel Matip heartbreak on Wednesday as he gave a pre-match press conference ahead of Sheffield United vs Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp shared an update on Joel Matip at the end of his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. Liverpool are preparing to continue their Premier League title charge against Sheffield United.
There was, of course, zero chance of Matip featuring in this one. The defender suffered an awful knee injury earlier this season, ruling him out long-term. That's particularly notable because Matip's contract expires in June.
That was made extra heartbreaking with the news that Klopp would step down at the end of the season. Matip faces a race against time to ever play for the German again - and it sounds like it's a race he's going to lose.
