When Liverpool recruited Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen in 2022, there were high hopes for the rising star.

Ramsay had been named the Scottish Football Writers' Association Young Player of the Year for his performances north of the border, and arrived at Anfield for £4.2m, tipped to provide competition to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

So far though, things haven’t worked out as the Scot would have liked. Ramsay has yet to make his Premier League debut for Liverpool, with injury problems initially derailing his progress.

The full-back was loaned out to Championship club Preston North End at the start of last season, in a bid to get him back on track.

That didn’t work as intended - injury again meant Ramsay played only twice, before he returned to Liverpool and then was loaned out to League One with Bolton Wanderers for the last few months of the campaign.

Liverpool's five-year stint with Nike as their kit supplier is nearing an end with the Reds agreeing a new deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

After a 13-year hiatus, Liverpool are set to have Adidas as their new kit supplier with deals reportedly already signed according to Footy Headlines.

There is no confirmation yet on when an announcement of the reunion will take place but going off Nike's revealing in 2020/21, we could see the deal be made public at the start of next year.

Liverpool's current deal with Nike is set to run out at the end of the current 2024/25 campaign with the Anfield side not set to renew their contract, favouring a switch to Adidas instead.

Wonderkid shines on debut

One Liverpool wonderkid made his debut for the Reds after completing his £1.5m move to the club.

It was a relatively quiet transfer window for Arne Slot's side this summer. The club waited until the very last moments in the window to complete the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili and bring in Federico Chiesa.

But it wasn't just first-team signings who Liverpool brought in over the course of the summer.

The Reds also secured the signature of the highly rated Rio Ngumoha, who even John Terry has tipped to go far in the game.

And they also brought in Alvin Ayman, who has been less talked about but who is equally as highly rated.

Two players that the Reds have been interested in previously could now be engaged in a behind-the-scenes battle that might play right into Liverpool’s hands.

It is no secret that Liverpool, much like every other top club in Europe, were big admirers of Jude Bellingham before he made the decision to join Real Madrid last summer.

Bellingham has developed into a world-class talent in Madrid but trouble could be brewing at the Bernabéu as the Englishman is rumoured to have a troubled relationship with Rodrygo Goes, a reported Liverpool target.

Rodrygo has featured in every game so far this season for Madrid but Bellingham has had his minutes restricted by injury and the pair have only shared the pitch for 163 minutes this campaign.

Mamardashvili explains why Liverpool signed him

Giorgi Mamardashvili showed just why Liverpool decided to sign him following Georgia's victory over the Czech Republic.

The Georgian goalkeeper became the first signing of the summer for Liverpool. However, he will only join the club next summer, having been loaned back to Valencia for the 2024/25 campaign.

Mamardashvili has been labelled as Alisson Becker's successor and has already been tipped to become one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

The latter explains Liverpool's decision to act swiftly in order to secure his signature. But the Georgian also showed another reason while playing for Georgia on international duty on Saturday.

Szoboszlai responds to critics

Hungary’s captain Dominik Szoboszlai was forced to come out and address the supporters on Instagram following the side’s embarrassing defeat to Germany on Saturday.

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes as his nation lost 5-0 in the first matchday of the UEFA Nations League.

This comes less than three months after Hungary suffered a 2-0 defeat to Germany in the group stage of Euro 2024 shortly before exiting the competition with only one win from three group games.

Previously, though, Hungary had defeated Germany in the Nations League thanks to an assist from Szoboszlai back during the 2022/23 campaign.

Now, having suffered such a heavy defeat, the result comes as a major shock. It is the biggest defeat since Szoboszlai had taken on the captain's armband and the biggest since current Hungary manager, Marco Rossi's six-year tenure.

Youngster sends Slot a message

One Liverpool youngster really caught the eye on his senior competitive debut for his country and might have sent Arne Slot a message.

There are plenty of international players catching the eye away from Liverpool at the moment.

From Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher's brilliant displays in England's 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland to Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo putting in stellar performances in the Dutch national team's 5-2 victory over Bosnia.

But it wasn't just the senior Liverpool players who caught the eye. There were plenty of young academy stars who also shone on Saturday from Liverpool's squad.
