Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai 'maybe' has a chance of being fit in time for the Carabao Cup final, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to return after.

The pair are currently sidelined with injuries, with both suffering from recurring issues picked up at the start of this year.

"It's a super intense period... People think now about the final which is fine, but before the final we have Brentford and Luton and actually I didn't think a second about the final yet," said Klopp before the Brentford game.

"With Dom it will be around that time [25 February]. We will see. With Trent maybe a week or two longer."

Klopp oversaw a stellar run from his side which included three four-goal victories against Newcastle United, Bournemouth and Chelsea, and the German has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for January as a result.

Diogo Jota was also named the Premier League Player of the Month for January after a rich vein of form in front of goal.

The attacker scored three and provided two assists in his three appearances, helping the Reds cope without the influential Mohamed Salah.

JURGEN KLOPP PRAISES 'SUPER-SUB' HARVEY ELLIOTT

Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on the "incredibly important" Harvey Elliott and insists that he has plenty of time to nail down a spot in the Liverpool first team.

The 20-year-old has been a significant player for the Reds this season but has only started three Premier League games, featuring more prominently in the domestic cup competitions and the Europa League.

As a result of impressive displays from the bench, Elliott has been tagged as a super-sub for the Reds this campaign, but Klopp insists that he has plenty of time to achieve a regular starting spot in this Liverpool side.

"Harvey has been incredibly important and I'm sure he knows that. He probably wishes to have started every game, but when he has come on he is brilliant, when he has started it's not the same," said Klopp.

"But he's young - it's not like he'll be a super-sub for the rest of his career."

According to UEFA's European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report, the Reds placed fifth in Europe for money spent on wages in 2023 at €429m (£376m).

Interestingly, that makes Liverpool the second highest wage spenders of any English club, behind only Manchester City, who are third overall with €554m (£474m).

Paris Saint-Germain rank second at €617m (£528m), while Barcelona — despite their much publicised financial turmoil — top the list with a whopping €639m (£547m).

MIKEL ARTETA PUTS ARSENAL IN KYLIAN MBAPPE CONVERSATION

The Frenchman, who has netted 31 goals in 30 games already this season, will be moving on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, with some unlikely rumours suggesting that Liverpool could be his destination.

The 25-year-old's astronomical wage demands mean that he won't be rocking up at Anfield any time soon, with Real Madrid the club most likely to secure Mbappe's services in the summer.

However, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes it's only right for his side to be in the mix for Mbappe,

"If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players," said Arteta. "I am not involved. Maybe Edu and the owners are, I’m not in those conversations until the last stage."
