Liverpool FC news recap: Fabio Carvalho criticism, Alexis Mac Allister award & Mo Salah's welcome
With no more Liverpool games for over a week and a quiet transfer window on Merseyside, there hasn't been an awful lot of jaw-dropping news coming out of Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp's side won't play until 21 January following their 2-1 victory against Fulham on Wednesday, leaving Liverpool supporters a little bored.
There have also not been too many exciting transfer stories to wet appetites, the Reds not expected to do any notable transfer business this month. However, there's still plenty to talk about.
Here is your Liverpool FC news recap for Friday 12 January.
RB LEIPZIG SPORTING DIRECTOR HITS OUT AT FABIO CARVALHO
Fabio Carvalho's loan spell at RB Leizpig certainly didn't go to plan, with the Portugal U21 international having now swapped Germany for Hull City for the rest of the season.
The youngster certainly didn't do a lot to impress those at the Red Bull Arena, including Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder, who has criticised Carvalho's lack of competitiveness.
"Fabio has a great character," said Schroder. "But he realised: ‘OK, there’s a competitor here, I have to do more!’. And we noticed that he didn’t want to face the competition."
Hopefully, Carvalho can have a greater impact with Hull in the second half of the campaign.
MICHAIL ANTONIO AIMS ANOTHER DIG AT LIVERPOOL
Michail Antonio is already fairly unpopular among Liverpool supporters given his comments earlier this season, with his latest remarks regarding the Reds' title ambitions not helping.
The West Ham United forward spoke on his podcast about who he wants to win the Premier League this year, to which his answer was anyone but Liverpool.
"I don't want Liverpool to win the league because you Liverpool fans are still in my inbox. Get lost! I'm saying it with chest. I don't want Liverpool to win the league!" the forward stated.
That inbox may be getting a tad fuller this evening.

Out of the players available to select, the Sky Sports pundit chose Manchester City's John Stones over Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
It was certainly a strange decision from Neville, one that left colleague Jamie Carragher baffled.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER WINS GOAL OF THE MONTH AWARD
Although it feels about a gazillion games ago, Alexis Mac Allister's wonderstrike against Fulham rightfully won the Argentine the Premier League Goal of the Month award for December.
It was Mac Allister's first and only goal for the Reds, as well as being one worthy of winning any Premier League Goal of the Month award.
