Liverpool FC news recap: Arne Slot's MOVING gesture, CLASSY Konate, Romano CONFIRMS Cherki interest
Here's all your Liverpool news for Monday, December 23.
Konate shows his CLASS
Bukayo Saka picked up what seems to be a terrible injury to his hamstring. He was subbed off in the first half with Arsenal eventually running out as 5-1 winners against Crystal Palace.
A video released on social media after the game saw the winger hobbling out of the ground on crutches, a sore sight for Arsenal fans. An Arsenal fan who tweeted about Ibrahima Konate’s injury made a post consoling Saka.
However, Liverpool fans picked up on this and were quick to point out his original tweet about Konate, with one Liverpool stating ‘Karma’s a bitch’.
Konate himself actually saw this and responded to the fan in an incredibly mature fashion. He stated, ‘We are not like them, we wish no harm’.
Edwards can FINALLY land Osimhen
Liverpool have failed to land Victor Osimhen over the years but have retained interest in his services consistently.
He was even linked with a move to the Reds this summer. And after five years perhaps 2025 could be the year Liverpool will finally be able to bring the forward to the club.
Osimhen has fallen out with Napoli's directors and that led to having to be forced to be moved to Turkey at the end of the summer transfer window.
Romano confirms Cherki chase
Rayan Cherki is one name who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool recently.
The special French wonderkid is reportedly ready to make the move away from Lyon and the Reds have been long-term admirers of the youngster.
Anfield Watch recently did an interview with a French expert to find out about Cherki's exciting talent and where he would fit into the current Liverpool team.
The 21-year-old already has 12 goal contributions in all competitions for Lyon and has been showcasing just why he was once regarded as the next big thing to come out of France after Kylian Mbappe.
It's clear that there is a lot to admire and now Fabrizio Romano himself has confirmed on his YouTube channel that Liverpool are indeed interested in Cherki.
Chambers injury BOOST
Left-back Luke Chambers has been out on loan at League One side Wigan this season, rejoining the club after a successful loan in the second half of last season.
He made 11 appearances for the Latics this season before a recurring back injury came to the fore once again, which has kept him out of action since October.
Speaking at the time, Wigan boss Shaun Maloney feared that it would be the end of his season: "It doesn't look too good a prognosis. He's going to be out for a fair period of time. You're not going to see him back on the field for quite a while."
The injury is one that has been ongoing for a number of years, with the 20-year-old returning to Liverpool to receive treatment in October.
However, Maloney has confirmed that Chambers has received a huge injury boost and will be back much sooner than expected.
Arne Slot's INCREDIBLE gesture
Not only is Arne Slot making waves as new head coach, he has also been demonstrating his incredible generosity.
The Liverpool boss made a surprise appearance on 3FM Serious Request for Dutch radio on Monday. Funds are being raised by the station for the Metakids charity and Slot was happy to make a wonderful contribution.
"I've offered a signed Liverpool shirt, with all signatures from players and myself. People are currently bidding on it," Slot told radio hosts Sophie Hijikema and Barend van Deelen.
