Jurgen Klopp announced he'll leave Liverpool FC in the summer in what will certainly be the biggest news of the season. This will be his final season in charge and the Reds must make some enormous decisions as a result.
There's a lot of fallout here but we've done our best to recap it all. Here's our Liverpool FC news recap for Friday, January 26th 2024.
Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool
In news that has sent shockwaves around the world of football, Liverpool have announced that Jurgen Klopp will step down from his role as manager, along with several of his backroom staff.
The 56-year-old, who joined the club back in October of 2015, will continue in his role for the remainder of the 2023/24 before leaving this summer.
In a statement posted on the club's official website, Klopp said: “I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it."

Pep Lijnders, Jorg Schmadtke to leave
A host of staff members are set to leave Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp announced his Anfield exit on Friday morning.
Most notably, Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, who are assistant managers to Klopp, will leave at the end of the season, as will elite development coach Vitor Matos.
Lijnders and Krawietz have both been incredibly useful assets to Klopp during his time on Merseyside, the latter also serving under the current Liverpool manager during his time with Borussia Dortmund and Mainz in Germany.
They are not the only changes in staff, however, with Liverpool also announcing that sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will depart Anfield at the end of the January transfer window.

Xabi Alonso responds to rumours
Xabi Alonso has insisted that he's not thinking about his future amid suggestions that he could be lined up to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
The man tipped to succeed Klopp is former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso, who is currently working wonders at Bayer Leverkusen. The Spaniard is unbeaten with the Bundesliga side this season and his team currently lead the table by four points.
Speaking before Leverkusen's weekend clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, Alonso was unsurprisingly quizzed about Klopp's departure and the possibility of him replacing the current Liverpool boss.

Liverpool have looked at De Zerbi
Liverpool have looked at Roberto De Zerbi in the past and liked what they saw. The Brighton boss is a favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp.
Melissa Reddy claims Liverpool have previously looked at Roberto De Zerbi as a potential new manager. This comes as the Italian becomes one of the favourites to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Klopp announced on Friday that he will step down as boss at the end of the season, leaving an enormous void at the club. De Zerbi could well be the man Liverpool choose to replace him, with his efforts at Brighton generating an impressive reputation.

Alonso has verbal agreement
Xabi Alonso reportedly has a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen about Liverpool. The Spaniard is the favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp.
This comes from Sky Germany. They report that Xabi Alonso has a 'gentlemen's agreement' with Bayer Leverkusen that involves Liverpool.
Alonso is the current favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager this summer after the German announced his intention to step down after this season. While there are others in the running, the Reds' former midfielder is the name at the top of everyone's list.
