Liverpool are nearing a return to action, but we still have to wait until 21 January for the Reds' trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

However, as we're currently in a transfer window, there are still plenty of rumours flying about to fill those column inches.

While Liverpool are not expected to be significant players in the market, it hasn't stopped Jurgen Klopp's side being linked with a whole host of new (and sometimes old) names.

Here is your Liverpool FC news recap for Monday 15 January, with a mix of transfer rumours and juicy news stories.

ALISSON IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN

Liverpool supporters have known for quite some time that Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, but one particularly stat makes a compelling case to opposition fans.

The Brazilian boasts the best save percentage in the Premier League this season, significantly better than the likes of Ederson, David Raya and Andre Onana.

It's hardly surprising given Alisson's brilliance and the fact that he has been nominated for every Premier League Save of the Month award this term.

The 31-year-old has also helped the Reds keep the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season, although Caoimhin Kelleher did play in one of those shutouts.

BRUNO GUIMARAES PRICE REVEAL

With Newcastle United apparently needing to sell players in order to comply with financial fair play rules, Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move away from St James' Park.

Some reports even suggest that the Brazilian is destined to leave Tyneside in the summer, with Liverpool long-term admirers of the combative midfielder.

However, his price tag may discourage the Reds, with a release clause in his current deal of £100m.

While Liverpool would love to add a player of Guimaraes' calibre to Klopp's squad, the Reds are unlikely to cough up such a vast fee.

JORDAN HENDERSON STUCK IN SAUDI ARABIA

Jordan Henderson is ready to call time on his failed Saudi Arabian adventure with Al Ettifaq, but a departure may not be so simple for the former Liverpool captain.

The midfielder only signed for £12m last summer from the Reds, but is already desperate to return to Europe.

Juventus have been linked with the Englishman, although Ajax appear the front-runners for his signature at present.

However, Al Ettifaq are not keen to let their prized asset go this January, with the Saudi Pro League side eager to keep him around as they look to rediscover their early season form under Steven Gerrard.

MAN UTD TO COMPETE WITH LIVERPOOL FOR TARGET

Michael Olise is a player that has been impressing with Crystal Palace in the Premier League this term, emerging as a Liverpool target as a result.

The Reds will reportedly look to sign the Englishman in the summer, but could face stiff competition from a number of clubs.

Manchester United are one of those sides eyeing the attacker and they reportedly have a plan to tempt the Eagles into selling.

Apparently, the Red Devils will offer former Palace player Aaron Wan-Bissaka in part-exchange, although it doesn't seem like a great incentive for the London club.

LIVERPOOL'S BEST GOALS OF THE SEASON...SO FAR

© IMAGO

Liverpool have been one of the most prolific teams in Europe, netting plenty of stunning goals as they continue to flourish in all four competitions they're part of this term.

We at Anfield Watch have given ourselves the difficult task of ranking the ten best goals the Reds have scored, albeit several come from just one game - Liverpool's 4-3 victory against Fulham in December.

There have been some absolute corkers from the likes of Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah, but Alexis Mac Allister's effort against the Cottagers remains undefeated.
