Liverpool FC news recap: Salah, injury returns, money league
Here's our Liverpool FC news recap for Thursday, 25 January 2024. Mohamed Salah has been the target of critics.
Liverpool are through to another cup final after getting past Fulham in the EFL Cup on Thursday. The Reds quickly need to focus on another competition, however, as Norwich City wait in the FA Cup.
So there's some early teams news for that - including a possible return or two - while Mohamed Salah has been receiving some stick for rehabbing his hamstring injury in Liverpool.

Klopp issues injury updates
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that all three of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai 'have a chance' of being involved in Liverpool's game against Norwich this weekend.
The Reds take on their Championship opponents in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield this Sunday.
The match comes just three days before the Premier League clash with Chelsea (Wednesday, 31 January), while Liverpool travel to Arsenal the weekend after.

Salah's agent moves to defend him
Mohamed Salah has received a passionate defence from his agents from critics 'looking for fame'. The Liverpool forward has had some stick.
Things couldn't really have gone worse for Mohamed Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations. The forward picked up a hamstring injury in just the second group-stage game and will now likely miss the rest of the tournament.
It's criticism that hasn't sat right with many, including Salah's agent. Ramy Abbas Issa took to social media on Thursday to passionately defend his client. Issa claims those criticising Salah are simply doing so for notoriety.

Nicol calls for Kelleher to be dropped
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol hopes Jurgen Klopp goes back on a promise to Caoimhin Kelleher for the EFL Cup final. The Reds' boss is unlikely to do so.
The Irishman has been in goal throughout the tournament again this time around and Jurgen Klopp has given every indication that he will be between the sticks for the final.
Klopp was asked after qualifying for the final whether he'd be tempted to leave Kelleher out in favour of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker. It's safe to say he's not considering that.
But former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol made it clear on Wednesday that he doesn't want the Irishman in goal for his own team. Nicol, who does punditry in the US for ESPN, gave a short opinion when the idea was put to him.

Liverpool want Kimmich
Liverpool and Manchester City are both interested in Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich this summer, according to a report.
The 28-year-old is one of the continent's top midfielders, having won eight Bundesliga titles and the 2019/20 Champions League.
Kimmich is set to enter the final year of his contract in Munich this summer, while he is yet to reach an agreement over an extension.

Liverpool fall in money league
Liverpool Football Club suffered the 'greatest fall' in the latest Deloitte money rankings. The Reds had a difficult season.
Deloitte have released their yearly football money rankings for the 2022/23 season. The outlet highlights how much clubs have made through matchday, commercial and broadcast revenue across a season, then ranks the top 20 accordingly.
Liverpool suffered the 'greatest fall' of any club in the rankings this time around. They've dropped all the way to 7th.
