Liverpool FC news recap: £245m Diaz DEAL, Mac Allister PROMOTION, SHOCK Chiesa call
Here's all your latest Liverpool news.
Luis Diaz at centre of MASSIVE £245m deal
Luis Diaz has found himself at the centre of an enormous deal. The Liverpool winger reportedly rejected a new contract in recent weeks.
The Financial Times reports that a massive merger is happening among football agencies. Four groups representing players have combined to form AS1.
AS1 immediately finds itself as one of the top 10 agencies in world football, at least according to Bruin Capital. They're backing this deal, which creates a company worth around £245m.
Transfermarkt valuations suggest this agency will now represent players worth around £600m in combined value. And arguably their top asset is currently playing at Liverpool.
Only three players are mentioned in the FT article: Bruno Fernandes, Moises Caicedo and Luis Diaz. The latter is one of the most in-form players across Europe and likely AS1's most valuable player.
Mac Allister PROMOTED
Alexis Mac Allister has been promoted. The World Cup winner is now a set piece taker for Liverpool.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder replaced Andrew Robertson as the player to take corners from the right for the Reds in their 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
He took four corners at Anfield, the most of any player on the pitch, and this seemed to coincide with Arne Slot’s men carving out chances from these dead-ball situations.
Virgil van Dijk headed against the post after Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were involved in a short corner.
BILLIONAIRE owner addresses Salah deal
Over the last few years, Mohamed Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, even as recently as last week there were talks that he could join the French side upon the expiry of his deal at Liverpool.
However, it seems that those reports might not have had much weight. PSG's billionaire owner has now finally spoken out about the club's potential move for Salah and while it does not look good for the Egyptian it bodes well for Liverpool.
PSG President and QSi (owners of PSG with a net worth thought to be around $338 billion according to GOAL) chairman Al-Khelaifi spoke to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany and addressed rumours about a potential move for Salah.
Player ratings as Salah and Trent lead fight back
Liverpool faced Newcastle away from home in the Premier League with several first-team players out.
The league leaders were without the likes of Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate and others while Trent Alexander-Arnold was initially rested on the bench.
Mo Salah scored twice with Trent adding two assists.

SHOCK Chiesa call
Federico Chiesa is working with the club's under-21 side and has made his long-awaited return to action. Chiesa was named in the starting lineup for the Reds' Premier League International game against Nordsjaelland on Wednesday night.
He took his place in the XI for the game at the LFC Academy alongside the likes of Jayden Danns, James McConnell and Trent Kone Doherty in a strong-looking lineup. And after only around 10 minutes, he was on the scoresheet.
