Real Madrid have made themselves a prediction about Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold. It's an insulting one, to say the least.

Real Madrid made waves to end 2024 as they sent in an offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Los Blancos hoped to take advantage of the fact that Alexander-Arnold's contract expires in the summer by landing him on the cheap in January.

But quite honestly, the offer was insulting. They tried to land the Scouser for £10m - and there's no sense in Liverpool accepting that.

The financial benefits of keeping Alexander-Arnold for the rest of the season vastly outweigh the benefits of an extra £10m. You could double that amount and it still holds true.

And certainly, Liverpool saw it that way. They swiftly rejected the offer and aren't willing to talk further with Real Madrid over the matter.

That, though, has Real Madrid thinking and they've made a prediction. One that, once again, feels like an insult.

Real Madrid make Liverpool prediction

Per AS, Real Madrid feel Liverpool will feel the pressure come the end of the January transfer window. In other words, there's a belief that the Reds will bend to that pressure and eventually agree to let Alexander-Arnold leave the club.

And that, in our minds, is an insulting prediction. It says that Madrid sense Liverpool aren't confident in their own decision, simply rejecting the bid because there's no rush.

That once the pressure kicks in, the club will lose all confidence and accept. Basically because Madrid say it's worth it.

But above all, it's insulting because of why Liverpool rejected that offer. They said no because they're competing for trophies and the potential prize money of winning the biggest titles are worth more than the £10m.

Madrid, though, appear to believe that Liverpool won't back themselves to actually win those trophies. They feel Arne Slot's Reds will eventually believe the nice, safe £10m is better than pushing on to win the lot.

Time to prove them wrong.
