Nunez gets the nod as Szoboszlai retains his place: Liverpool vs Brentford predicted lineup
Liverpool are set to visit West London on Saturday afternoon as they travel to play Brentford at the Community Stadium.
Their last Premier League game ended a draw away to Nottingham Forest in midweek, but the Reds will be looking to go one better and set their title ambitions back on track.

The points dropped to Forest extended an unfortunate run of poor form for Liverpool, having drawn four of their last seven Premier League matches.
As such Arsenal have managed to claw the gap between the two teams down to four points, although the Reds still have a game in hand.
Brentford will fancy their chances given Liverpool's slight dip in consistency, failing to finish off their chances and conceding scrappy goals, although the Bees have only won one of their last eight matches.
Here is how we think the lineup will look on Saturday.
GK - Alisson Becker
Was kept relatively quiet earlier this week, although he undoubtedly could have done better in defending Chris Wood's early goal for Forest. He is now three games without a clean sheet as the team's last faultless performance with the Brazilian in net came against West Ham in their final game of 2024. Not at his best at the moment, but still Liverpool's best goalkeeper available.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
After a hellish showing against Manchester United in the team's first match of 2025, Trent was rested for the EFL Cup clash against Tottenham and, although he delivered a masterclass against Accrington Stanley, many still weren't too confident with where his head was at. But against Forest, he was back to his best, and Slot will be keen to keep his momentum going now that the outside noise surrounding his career has started to dissipate.
CB - Ibrahima Konate
Joe Gomez remains out and, although Konate is still recovering to full fitness following a period out injured, it seems highly likely that Slot will start the Frenchman alongside Virgil van Dijk. Jarell Quansah is reportedly not fully trusted by Slot after a tumultuous season, and so although the young Englishman may get brought on at some stage, Konate will start the match.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Despite his ever-changing partners in defence, the captain somehow manages to keep the ship steady and his involvement in Brentford is a guarantee. Liverpool need points and unless there is an injury concern, it would be daft for Arne Slot to switch to a Konate-Quansah pairing.
LB - Andy Robertson
The Scottish captain performed well against Nottingham Forest, although is still far from his best, lacking confidence and discipline in this campaign. Tsimikas could easily get the nod from Slot, but it seems highly likely that the Dutchman will continue with the same back four.
CM - Ryan Gravenberch
Amongst the pressure and intensity of the 1st vs 3rd clash against Forest, Gravenberch took to his usual task and delivered a calm and assured performance, winning his duels and clearing the ball to safety when necessary, a real gritty display. Liverpool will need a similar effort against Brentford if they are to get back to winning ways.
MF - Alexis Mac Allister
As with every match he plays, Mac Allister was everywhere in the Reds' last outing. Be it battening down the hatches in defence or lunging forward to help Szoboszlai and the front three in attack, his all round display ensured that Liverpool held their own in face of adversity.
MF - Dominik Szoboszlai
While he was absent from the team for a few games due to suspension and illness, the team lacked his tenacity and willingness to press high and win the ball back. With him back in the side, Liverpool look a more threatening outfit and despite playing the full game on Tuesday, he will be ready and raring to go come Saturday afternoon.
RW - Mohamed Salah
It's been a quiet couple of games for Salah, having been largely ineffective the contests against Manchester United, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, but his record this season of consistent attacking returns means he's the first player on the team sheet. Federico Chiesa is yet to be trusted fully in the Premier League, and a change from the norm would a really bold call from Slot.
LW - Cody Gakpo
He has made the left-wing position his own in recent weeks, while Luis Diaz has been given the freedom to play as a centre-forward and with Diaz failing to train this week because of illness, it seems likely that the Dutchman will keep his space in the side this week.
ST - Darwin Nunez
Diogo Jota came on against Nottingham Forest and impacted the game seconds later with his first touch of the match resulting in Liverpool's equaliser. Ordinarily, it would be a straightforward decision to bring him in, but following Arne Slot's press conference on Friday, it seems as though he felt a niggle and will be missing this week's contest.
As such, the out-of-form Nunez will have a chance to stamp his authority on the match and remind people of the quality he has, even if he isn't always able to deliver when called upon.
