Absolutely nothing went right for Liverpool against Everton and the PGMOL could be about to punish Arne Slot multiple times.

The Reds' head coach was understandably irate after the final whistle. His side looked like they were in cruise control until a deft blow right at the end of the game.

James Tarkowski's equaliser might have been easier to take had new images not shown that objectively Abdoulaye Doucoure was offside in the build-up to the goal.

But due to a rule introduced by the Premier League, he was given a benefit of doubt, which made the goal stand as per PGMOL's laws.

In the aftermath, Liverpool suffered even further with red cards handed to Slot himself, his assistant Sipke Hulshoff and Curtis Jones for their misconduct.

Arne Slot to be punished not once but twice

According to the Premier League, Slot was given a red card by Michael Oliver for 'abusive language' and that he is set to be handed a two match ban but this was a post that has since been deleted from the league's official website.

Instead Liverpool reporter James Pearce has revealed that this was a 'mistake' by the Premier League.

The FA have three working days to review Oliver's report and decide whether to charge him and hand him a penalty.

This means he will be on the touchline against Wolves as things stand. But it could also be terrible news for the Liverpool head coach.

If he is able to be on the touchline against Wolves but he is then subsequently indeed awarded a two match ban, this would hurt Slot not once but twice.

Being handed a ban is one thing, but being handed a ban which would see him miss arguably Liverpool's biggest game of the season against Manchester City is another.

It's simply a double punishment, if not even triple considering the injustice that was done to his side against Everton.

It remains to be seen whether the FA will uphold the ban or indeed what decision they will come to. But as things stand things are looking like Slot could suffer even more.
