Pep Guardiola DEFENDS Liverpool's 'outstanding' Premier League title win
Liverpool need just one point to be crowned Premier League champions.
A total of 80 points will guarantee the Reds their 20th league title and, with five matches still to play, that tally seems very achievable.

A points total of 80 doesn’t seem like the tally of champions, and in recent years it hasn’t been. In fact, you have to go back to the 2010/11 season to find the last team who were crowned champions with only 80 points – Manchester United.
The Red Devils also managed to secure the title with 80 points a decade earlier, and before the turn of the century three sides were able to win the league despite not reaching the 80 point mark.
If Liverpool were to only manage 80 points this season, they may be perceived as weak champions, but the Reds can still total 94 points, and one of their biggest rivals has had a say on the strength of the champions elect.
Guardiola praises the quality of the Premier League
Many fans, often in a feeble attempt to discredit Liverpool’s impending title win, have questioned the strength of the Premier League this season - claiming it is the weakest the competition has ever been.
The man who probably knows best, six-time Premier League champion Pep Guardiola, has shut down the legitimacy of any questioning Liverpool’s title.
“The season has been bad [for City]. It doesn't matter about the [FA Cup] or if we finish in Champions League.” Guardiola told Sky Sports after Man City’s victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday.
“What makes you feel good is the Premier League. It happened and sometimes you have bad seasons. Liverpool will be champions, and the level of teams [in the league] is outstanding."

There you have it. The manager of Liverpool’s biggest rivals over the last seven years does not buy into the theory that Liverpool are only champions elect because of weak opposition.
Arne Slot’s side need only 10 points from 15 available to match City’s total of 89 points the season they won the treble.
If the Reds can obtain their maximum of 94 points, they will boast the sixth highest points total in the competition’s history. Not a bad effort for a manager’s first season.

Any fans looking to question the legitimacy of Liverpool’s title win need only look at the words of Guardiola to know that the Reds are actually just very good at football, and will be deserving Premier League champions.
