Mo Salah has one goal in mind during intense Liverpool contract talks. The Egyptian has made that very clear.

Mo Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season as it stands. His contract will expire and there is yet to be a new one.

Liverpool are plainly reluctant to give Salah a new deal, given he'll be 33 once it kicks in. The forward backs himself to get a long-term contract on big money, however - and the two ideas don't mesh.

And so we are where we are. Salah will leave, as things stand, and fans are needing to prepare themselves for that.

The player certainly is. He's been talking ahead of the fixture with Manchester United about his goals right now - and getting a new contract isn't at the top of his list.

Mo Salah wants one thing

"It doesn't drive me anymore," Salah said of individual awards to TNT Sports. "I just feel like 'okay I just want to win especially the Premier League more than the Champions League this year'

"Premier League, to be a big part of the team winning and that's great [for me]."

So maybe Salah stays or maybe he doesn't. Either way, he's focusing right now on delivering the Premier League title for the second time in his career.

Doing so would cement him further among the greats at Liverpool and the Premier League. Especially as he continues to move up the goalscoring charts for both.

But there is a desperate feeling to it. After all, this feels like his last chance at securing more goalscoring records and another title.

Liverpool and FSG have the power to change that, of course, but they're clearly reluctant. For now, Salah wants to go out on a high.

And he knows just how to do that.
