Man City give embarrassing BOW to the Egyptian King Mo Salah

Manchester City showed their love for Liverpool star Mo Salah on Thursday - even if they didn't mean to. All hail the Egyptian King.

Manchester City have a new forward: Omar Marmoush. Admittedly, we're a little jealous of that one as Marmoush was a player we had hoped would end up at Liverpool.

He's been lighting it up for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga games and assisting another nine. It's a remarkable record and one that placed him squarely on the shortlist of some major clubs.

One of those was Liverpool. The Reds are on the look out for forwards right now and Marmoush fit the bill quite nicely.

However, they weren't prepared to move in January, with Man City getting a free run at him, really. They've now paid Β£59m to sign him from Frankfurt in hope he can help them recapture their usual form.

Though, we're not entirely sure how he's going to plug the enormous hole in their midfield. Maybe Pep Guardiola has a plan. We'll just see on that.

What we did enjoy, though, was their announcement for Marmoush on Twitter. All hail Mo Salah, it seems.

Man City bow to Mo Salah

Man City announced Marmoush on Thursday with a new nickname: The Egyptian Prince.

Not quite the King, then? City quite blatantly tried to steer clear of comparisons to Mo Salah, the Egyptian King.

But what we like is that they went with a nickname that says 'we've got what you've got but not as good'. The admittance that their new star signing isn't quite ready to be the King yet - that guy's over at Liverpool.

Naturally, Liverpool fans were happy to point that out.

City quite clearly realised they probably shouldn't do that and Marmoush had a new nickname by the end of the day. He's 'The Pharaoh' now, you see.

Really, that just makes initially labelling him 'the inferior Mo Salah' all the more funny. They saw they'd done and pivoted away from it.

The King reigns supreme, as always.
