Liverpool FC News: Luis Diaz fitness update after groin injury concern
Luis Diaz did not suffer a serious injury in Sunday's FA Cup defeat to Manchester United, despite fears over his fitness as he links up with the Colombia national team.
Diaz was substituted in the 114th minute of Liverpool's 4-3 quarter-final defeat at Old Trafford, with the winger appearing to be discomfort as he left the pitch.
Klopp confirmed after the match that Diaz "felt his groin", raising alarm bells over the 27-year-old's fitness going into the international break.
There were then reports that Colombia were concerned over Diaz's status, amid a spate of other injury issues in the squad, including ex-Everton defender Yerry Mina and Braga left-back Cristian Borja who both had to withdraw from selection for the upcoming friendlies against Spain (Friday, 22 March) and Romania (Tuesday, 26 March).
However, Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor reports that Diaz's groin issue is 'nothing serious' and while the former Porto star did not train with the rest of the Colombia team on Monday, he was still involved in recovery work in the gym.
How much game time Diaz will play in the coming international fixtures remains to be seen, but the news that he has avoided a more lasting injury comes as a relief for Liverpool, who hardly need any more availability issues right now.
The Reds have suffered badly this injuries term, with Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stefan Bajcetic, Alisson Becker, Ben Doak, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota and Joel Matip all currently sidelined.
