Luis Diaz shows Anthony Gordon how it's done in HUGE Liverpool win
Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle at Anfield on Wednesday Night.
Liverpool Transfer Latest: Reds FAVOURITES for Yamal as perfect Salah replacement lined up
Arne Slot’s side put in another controlled performance that ended with the Kop singing “Now you’re gonna believe us, we’re going to win the league!” It looks like they might be right.

One of the standout performers on the night for the Reds was Luis Diaz, who showed that he deserved to be on the pitch repeatedly.
The Colombian provided the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai’s opening goal, cutting the ball back for his Hungarian teammate to finish.
Diaz shows Gordon how it’s done
As well as setting up the Reds’ opener, the 28-year-old put in a shift defensively – aiding Kostas Tsimikas to ensure Newcastle had no joy down Liverpool’s left-hand side.
Talk of Diaz departing Anfield has been rife for the past 12 months and one of the men touted as his replacement, Anthony Gordon, was on the losing team in L4 on Wednesday night.

Diaz showed the Englishman how it’s done however, staking his claim to remain in Liverpool’s starting XI despite Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo looking back to full fitness.
The former Porto man’s future at Anfield is still uncertain, with links to Barcelona persisting, but that clearly wasn’t playing on Diaz’s mind as he helped his side get one hand on the Premier League title.
Diaz’s season so far
After scoring five goals in the Reds’ opening five Premier League games, Diaz has slowed down in recent months.
The 28-year-old had scored two goals and failed to provide an assist in his previous 10 Premier League matches before the Newcastle game, but if he can carry his performance from Wednesday night into Liverpool’s next few games that record is destined to improve.
Diaz has repeatedly been played as a make-shift centre-forward under Slot and, despite some early success, this can now be classified as a failed experiment.
The Colombian looks much better on the left, where he played against Newcastle, and now the battle between Gakpo and Diaz to start on the left for Liverpool will continue.
Liverpool supporters will hope that Diaz can repeat his display against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final in March and bring Arne Slot’s first bit of silverware back to Anfield.

Diaz’s future may be uncertain, but if he can continue to perform for the Reds he’ll certainly earn back some favour with the higher powers at Anfield.
