Liverpool friendly could be CANCELLED with Spanish side angered by Reds
Liverpool have been in the process of organising another pre-season friendly this August but their potential opponents may well cancel the match.
The Reds had been working on finalising a friendly with Spanish side Las Palmas for Saturday 10 August, just a day before the Reds are scheduled to face Sevilla in Arne Slot's first Anfield outing.
Both Liverpool and Las Palmas begin their league season the following week and it was seen as a fantastic commercial opportunity for the Canary Islands club, while offering some of the Reds' fringe players some more game time.
However, according to news outlet Canarias7, Las Palmas could cancel the rumoured friendly for two reasons.
The first is that Liverpool will play an under-23 team for the clash given they face Sevilla a day later. This would severely impact the financial benefit of a friendly for the Spanish outfit.
Las Palmas have already played Inter this summer and it's noted that the Italian champions fielded some of their strongest players in that pre-season clash.
The second reason that Las Palmas are frustrated is that the match would take place at the AXA Training Centre as opposed to Anfield.
Los Amarillos are reportedly unwilling to accept those conditions and will look for an alternative friendly to finish up their pre-season.
LIVERPOOL PRE-SEASON GAMES STILL TO BE PLAYED
The Reds have already played three matches in pre-season, albeit the first came behind closed doors in a 1-0 loss to Championship side Preston North End.
Slot's side followed that defeat up with victories over Real Betis and Arsenal during their pre-season tour of the United States, impressing in their 2-1 win over the Gunners.
However, even if Liverpool can't organise another friendly, they still have two more matches to play before their Premier League campaign begins on 17 August.
The first is their final US tour match against Manchester United this Sunday, followed by the Anfield meeting with Sevilla just six days before the new campaign commences.
