With pre-season training having now started, Arne Slot's reign as Liverpool boss gets underway.

The Dutch coach, who was appointed as Jurgen Klopp's successor at the end of last season, has already taken part in his first interview with the club, as well as a press conference with reporters.

A number of the club's players, both young and old, have already linked up with Slot at the AXA Training Centre for pre-season, although international commitments mean that not all of the 45-year-old's players are currently available to him.

One that is how, however, is Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

The 28-year-old didn't travel to Euro 2024 after Greece failed to qualify, meaning he has had extra time to work with his new head coach.

In a snap interview with LFCTV, Tsimikas offered an insight into Slot's training regime.

"Yeah, it was very good, quite intense. I think all the boys give, every day the best possible," said the defender. "He has very good ideas in my opinion and we work really hard and try to understand the way he wants us to play.

"So, yeah, we are really looking forward after many many trainings with him to see how the team reacts in the game and what we can do."

Liverpool fans will be pleased to hear that Slot's early sessions are intense, suggesting that the former Feyenoord boss will bring his positive, attack-minded football with him to Merseyside.

Tsimikas was evidently pleased by what he has seen from Slot and his backroom staff so far, but the feeling is mutual.

Reflecting on his first week of pre-season with the Reds, Slot told LFCTV: "Most players here at the moment are coming from the under-21s and I have to give them a compliment because they are full of energy, like to press, like to counter-press.

"So, they have been taught really well, and the ones that are here from the first team are giving the right example to the youngsters.

"It's been a joy to work with them in the first week."

Liverpool play their first friendly of pre-season at the end of the month when they travel to the United States.

In North America, they will face Real Betis, Manchester United and Arsenal, with Slot's first Anfield clash coming against Sevilla on Sunday 11 August.
