Jurgen Klopp admits he’s unaware of what one ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool player is going to do next. The Reds could see big changes happening.

Jurgen Klopp gave an interview to ESPN Netherlands this weekend where he discussed Liverpool. We haven't heard much from the German since he left Anfield this summer, but he was open to discussing the Reds here.

Klopp talked about his appreciation for Arne Slot, for one, and raved about Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Scouser is clearly a player who left an incredible impression on the manager who brought him through.

He also discussed his final captain at the club, Virgil van Dijk. However, Klopp admits he's unaware of what the Dutchman will do next.

Van Dijk's contract expires this summer, with little public talk about his future. It's entirely possible he signs a new one at Liverpool - but the captain could depart on a free transfer next year.

"Unbelievable player," Klopp said of Van Dijk. "Unbelievable player. Unbelievable guy.

"So I miss them. I don't miss the job, [but] I miss all the people there. We can, we can see each other whenever we want in the future.

"I have no idea what he, what they will do. And it's all their own decision. They are grown-ups. They will do the right stuff."

Liverpool's contract situation

Klopp is clear to say 'they' there as Van Dijk is not the only player in this situation. Both Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold have expiring deals and all three could leave for nothing next summer.

The trio are arguably the three most important players of the Klopp era. All three could leave at exactly the same time, transforming the squad in one swoop.

And not for the better. Losing one will make things difficult, and losing two would be a disaster. All three departing? Liverpool will struggle.
