The Reds recorded a pre-tax loss of £57 million, despite the club’s overall revenue rising by £20 million to £614 million.

Many have put the loss down to the fact that Liverpool were not in the Champions League last season, the first time they’ve missed out on Europe’s premier competition since the 2016/17 season.
Some fans were also left questioning the near £10 million payout that Jurgen Klopp and members of his departing backroom team received.
It seemed odd to many that a coach who was stepping away of his own accord would receive a pay-off, but now some explanation has been offered.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool payday explained
There has been no official explanation for the payments, and it is unlikely that one will ever surface, but many have theorised exactly why the legendary Liverpool boss and his team received such a hefty sum when they walked away.
David Lynch, speaking to Anfield Index, has offered some insight into the circumstances around the payment.
“It’s a strange one. I can’t say I’m an expert in these contractual issues, and people I’ve spoken to couldn’t really give me a satisfactory explanation around that.”

The report goes on to state that there is a general belief that the payout was a result of contractual agreements and severance payments that were owed to staff members who did not choose to leave.
Lynch went on to add: “There’s a comment there coming in that he deserves every penny, which is probably fair enough, but it is a little bit strange for someone who resigned to get a payoff.”
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool legacy
Klopp will be remembered as one of the greatest managers in the history of Liverpool Football Club, and this payment will do absolutely nothing to tarnish that legacy, but it is of course natural for supporters to question it.
Big payoffs are usually seen when a manager is sacked, but that wasn’t the case at Anfield.
Nevertheless, things at Liverpool haven’t changed that much since the departure of the beloved German boss.
Arne Slot has done a great job since he took charge. The Reds already have one hand on the Premier League trophy and are still on track for a historic treble.
Klopp left Liverpool in excellent shape, and it is incredibly hard to argue that anything he received when he left wasn’t deserved.
The true breakdown of the payout for Klopp’s backroom team may never see the light of day, but the £9.6 million payment won’t affect the long-term financial health of the club, and Klopp’s legacy will live on for years at Anfield.
