Jurgen Klopp has been 'approached' to manage Napoli by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, according to one report.

The 56-year-old will leave Liverpool this summer having joined the club in 2015, a decision he attributed to having 'run out of energy' in the dugout.

The German suggested he would not coach another club again for at least a year and may even retire from football completely after he departs Anfield.

However, that hasn't stopped him being linked with plenty of jobs over the past few months, including the Germany national team position.

According to Italian journalist Paolo Esposito though (via Football365), Napoli are the latest club to have enquired about recruiting the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

NAPOLI APPROACH JURGEN KLOPP

Esposito has suggested that Napoli president De Laurentiis has already made contact with Klopp over potentially taking over the club next season, although he didn't elaborate on the outcome of that approach.

"Jurgen Klopp has also been approached by Aurelio De Laurentiis to sit on the Napoli bench for next season," he said. "I already reported this in the last episode of Area di Rigore. The German coach will leave Liverpool at the end of the season."

Given that Klopp has not only stated his desire to take a break from football but looks absolutely shattered on the touchline, it's extremely unlikely that he will be taking a new job any time soon - let alone the Napoli post.

The Serie A giants, who have made a miserable defence of their league title and currently sit eighth in the table, have already been through three managers this season.

However, any attempts to persuade Klopp to change his mind over his future this summer will almost certainly fall on deaf ears, and Napoli should start looking elsewhere.
