'Let's see': Jurgen Klopp knows one detail about his highly-anticipated plans
Jurgen Klopp has shared one detail about his plans after Liverpool. The former boss only appears to know that much, however.
Jurgen Klopp appeared at the Coaches' Congress in Wurzburg this week where he talked to the crowd about his future. It's been a hot topic in football, of course.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager at the end of last season having announced his plans to do so at the start of the year. It was an emotional one - he's been a massive part of the club's history and very few have had anything like the impact he has.
But what comes next? Naturally, clubs and countries throughout the game want Klopp to manage them but he's rejected all approaches up to now.
That's going to continue, too, as the German has no plans but to have a break. In fact, the only thing he knows about his next step is that he does want to remain in football.
But that doesn't necessarily mean as a coach.
“At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs. No club, no country,” said Klopp, per the Guardian. “A few people must not have heard this part. And it would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if you said, ‘I’ll make an exception for you now’.
“I’m going to do some work. I’m too young to only do padel tennis and grandchildren. Will that be [as a] coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. Let’s see what it will look like in a few months. Nothing is coming through at the moment.
“Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let’s see what else there is for me.”
Jurgen Klopp's future
It's a massive one for Liverpool, for Liverpool fans and for football as a whole. Klopp's next step could be a game-changing.
It won't be in England, we know that, and we'd be surprised to see him ever take up one of the 'glamorous' jobs in football as they've never really appealed to him before. And it may be that he truly never does coach again.
Our hunch is that he will be in a dugout at some point, though. Perhaps that's with the German national side, perhaps it's with another club in a new country.
Either way, football certainly hasn't seen the last of Jurgen Klopp and we can't wait to see what he'll do next.
