Matched up against the Liverpool midfielder, Szoboszlai tormented him throughout the game and Guler wasn't happy with the physicality and force used against him.

In one altercation, he started to square up to Szoboszlai, to which the Hungarian captain reacted with a smirk. The cameras captured the incident and the image went viral on social media after the game.

In another incident, Turkey were not happy with a foul called on Szoboszlai by Yuksek Ismail, who started to protest to the referee. Szoboszlai responded by blowing a kiss to Ismail, much to the ire of the Turkish players.

Later on the game, Szoboszlai ended up converting a penalty for Hungary to win the game 1-0.

And the story might have ended there with Szoboszlai having the last laugh.

Fast forward to a few months later, Szoboszlai played in Liverpool's victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League, once again locking horns with Guler.

Although this game didn't really see the two of them clash with neither being on the pitch at the same time as the other.

Then came the game Nations League play off against Turkey last week. Guler missed the first leg in Istanbul due to suspension but came back to start the game for Turkey in Budapest.

Turkey won the game 3-0 and Guler clashed with Szoboszlai once again. After one coming together. Guler tried to square up to Szoboszlai and pointed his index finger to his mouth in an attempt to shush Szoboszlai, who found this amusing and reacted to the provocation with a smile.

The story once again could have ended here, but things only escalated.

After the game, Hungary's biggest newspaper, Nemzeti Sport, posted a picture of Guler shushing Szoboszlai on their Instagram page.

Szoboszlai commented under that post with '1088' which is a reference to the amount of minutes Guler has played for Real Madrid this season as per his Transfermarkt page.

The comment was promptly deleted by Szoboszlai but not before the rest of the world noticed and had shared it pretty much to every corner of the internet.

Guler will have seen it, too, and he responded with an Instagram story depicting the Hungary vs Turkey 0-3 scoreboard with the goal-scorers for Turkey and where the scorers should be for Hungary, Guler edited a caption to say: Szoboszlai - 1 Instagram comment.

Guler also added a message to his story saying: 'This guy is a joke. Isn't six goals enough to shut you up?' Adding the shushing emoji to the end of his message.

At this moment in time, Szoboszlai hasn't responded to Guler's further provocation. But this is definitely not the last we have heard of this beef.

For 12 months now, there is a bitter feud going on between the two young stars and it's inevitable it will come to a boiling point again at some point in the future.
