Salah has continued to speak his truth recently joking with Gary Lineker about his future at Anfield.

With less than six months left now on his current deal, Salah is free to negotiate with clubs from abroad to arrange a move away from the club.

But so far no such agreement has been struck either, despite strong interest from Saudi clubs.

Liverpool's alleged Mo Salah lie

There have been some murmurs on social media recently that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have signed contract agreements.

That was according to an exclusive update by Anfield Edition, who claim that the reason why the club has not issued an announcement yet is because Trent Alexander-Arnold is yet to sign a new deal.

This sent shockwaves around the world, including in Egypt, with renowned publication Masrawy responding to the claims in a major rebuttal alleging that no such agreement has been made and that according to a source Liverpool's management have allegedly leaked a lie to the media in order to cover up the lack of activity in the January transfer market.

"News has spread across social media in the past hours indicating that Liverpool's board of directors has reached an agreement with Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk to renew their contracts, which expire at the end of the current 2024/25 season," the website writes.

"A source revealed in exclusive statements to 'Masrawy' that what is being said on social media accounts about Salah and Liverpool reaching an agreement to renew the contract is not true.

"The source explained that the circulating news is nothing but leaks from Liverpool's management due to the failure to conclude any deal during the winter transfers that ended last Monday, February 3.

"A source told Masrawy that the Liverpool board had made an offer to Salah to renew his contract, but the offer was weak and was rejected. For more details, click here."

If this allegation is true, it's a damning one for FSG and Liverpool. It's also a massive disappointment for Liverpool fans, who are all desperately hoping that Salah will extend his stay at Anfield.

And people are surprised why?

If this is true, then the board's position is untenable because no player will ever want to sign for us again knowing they might be used as a pawn in a PR game the club appears to be playing to appease fan's anger over yet another window without major signings. If this is proven true the board will have no choice but to resign over the reputational damage they would have done to the club. I cannot stress how serious this accusation is.
