5 things we learned from Liverpool’s BRILLIANT 4-1 win vs Sevilla
Liverpool beat Sevilla 4-1 at Anfield on Sunday in Arne Slot's first match at Anfield as the new head coach. Here's what we learned from the win.
Needed to go strong
Liverpool had a lot of returning players here who hadn't featured in the previous friendlies. Arne Slot didn't ease them back in, though, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister going straight into the starting XI.
Not only that, but they played over an hour each. Slot explained ahead of the match that it was important they played a lot of minutes so they'd be ready to face Ipswich next weekend.

Safe to say they're ready.
Alexander-Arnold wastes no time
Thre were a lot of eyes on Alexander-Arnold here. He was one of the standout players under Jurgen Klopp, of course, but had a disappointing summer as England barely used him.
So how would he do under a manager that isn't Klopp? Well, it didn't take him long to answer that.
Alexander-Arnold had some brilliant moments here, registering an assist for Diogo Jota at the half-hour mark. He had other chances to get assists, too, with only some poor decision-making from forwards stopping him.
No one should be worried, then. Alexander-Arnold showcased his passing and looked at home in the system - and that's in fixture no.1 of the new era.
That first half
Liverpool were absolutely fantastic in the first half here. Mohamed Salah looked electric, the passing was fluid and the Reds eventually found a breakthrough.
Diogo Jota scored a sensational volley to open up the scoring on 30 minutes after Alexander-Arnold's pinpoint cross. And then came a second - Luis Diaz rifled one into the top corner.
And then a third! Our favourite of the bunch, too. Alisson had the ball virtually on his own goalline before firing a pass up field. It was knocked down and played in behind for Dominic Szoboszlai to run on to and he simply laid it across goal for Diaz to grab a second.
Front to back in four passes and just seconds. More of that, please.
Nyoni makes his mark
So can Trey Nyoni just play anywhere? He come on here as a left-winger and looked at home from the moment he got on the pitch.
It didn't take him long to score, either, as the teenager had the ball fall back to him about 10 yards from goal. He rifled it into the far corner for a Kop-end goal and to restore Liverpool's three-goal lead.
Nyoni looks like an incredible prospect and one we can't wait to see develop with the Reds. This could be a big season.
Strong start for the Slot era
Given this was the first game under Slot for most of that starting XI, fans can be excited. This is what a coming-back-into-fitness team can do from Day One and there's every expectation that it's up from here.
The football looks electric, the players are looking creative and that was a ton of fun. Roll on the Premier League games because it looks like we're in for a treat.
