Liverpool FC News: Fernando Torres makes big career decision after Reds return

Former Reds striker Fernando Torres has made an important decision on his future in football following his recent return to Liverpool.

The Spaniard came back to Merseyside for an LFC Legends match over the March international break and scored in front of the Kop during a 4-2 victory over Ajax Legends.

However, Torres then asked if he could make another trip to Liverpool to take a closer look around the club's facilities and spend time with Jurgen Klopp behind the scenes as he looks to gain greater experience on his path to becoming a successful manager.

According to Relevo, the 40-year-old still maintains a good relationship with Liverpool and was 'delighted' with the time he spent with the Reds recently.

Currently the coach of Atletico Madrid's U19s, Torres has now made an enormous decision on his future in Spain as he looks to advance his coaching career.

TORRES STEPS DOWN AS YOUTH TEAM COACH

Relevo have reported that Torres will leave his position as Atletico U19s head coach come the end of the season, with his side currently seven points clear of rivals Real Madrid in the league with just five games to play.

He has decided to 'change objectives' as he believes he has 'completed his cycle' with the U19s squad, with Atletico now having to decide whether to promote him to a more significant role or allow him to explore options elsewhere.

Replacing Diego Simeone in the first team is impossible, with the only other position available being Atletico Madrid's B team manager - although coach Luis Tevenet is currently doing a great job with the B team.

Relevo suggest that Atletico hold Torres in high regard and may be tempted to replace Tevenet with the former Liverpool attacker, but there is also the possibility that he receives offers from other clubs around Europe.

With the likes of Steven Gerrard and, of course, Xabi Alonso currently in significant managerial roles, Torres could well be the next former Red on his way to the top of the game.

Torres a future Liverpool manager?

It is probably a little too soon to think of Torres potentially taking on any really top jobs, but that hasn't stopped bookmakers including him in their odds to replace Klopp at the end of this season.

Fernando is currently quoted at 18/1 by Sky Bet, while Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim remains the hot favourite at 1/2.
