The massive moment that SEALED Federico Chiesa's Liverpool fate
Federico Chiesa’s Liverpool career so far has been an odd one.
Signed for just over £10 million in the summer, Chiesa had the potential to be one of the best value signings of all time, but things haven’t quite gone to plan.

Even Chiesa’s numbers this year are peculiar, the Italian has two goals and two assists in 387 minutes of football, that’s a goal involvement every 97 minutes.
Only Mohamed Salah ranks better in this metric among Liverpool’s forwards.
So, why hasn’t Chiesa been given more opportunities by Arne Slot? Well, there is one moment that may have set the winger back a long way this campaign.
Where has it gone wrong for Federico Chiesa?
According to Lewis Steele’s Liverpool Confidential for Mail Online, Chiesa’s poor performance against Plymouth in the FA Cup may have set him back significantly in Slot’s estimations.
Chiesa failed to make any real impact in the match, not taking one of the few opportunities he has been afforded since moving to Merseyside.

Plymouth, who sit bottom of the Championship, should have been the perfect team for Chiesa to show exactly what he can do for Liverpool, but the winger did not live up to high expectations.
This may have led to a later reluctance to get Chiesa involved in crucial games, especially as Slot has a tendency to use a smaller group of players anyway.
Despite the goal involvement’s Chiesa has managed in his very limited minutes, he hasn’t been able to break into Slot’s trusted group yet.
The Chiesa redemption arc
All of that may be about to change though.
Chiesa excited in a brief cameo in the Carabao Cup final, scoring the Reds’ only goal despite only being on the pitch for 16 minutes.
The 27-year-old took his goal well, and Slot may now be reassessing his place in the squad.
The Premier League trophy is within touching distance for Liverpool, and once the competition is wrapped up there may be a few more opportunities for fringe players to impress before the summer.
If the Reds secure the title with a few games to go Slot could be incentivised to start Chiesa for the final few games of the season, so he can properly asses his first ever Liverpool signing and decide if he does have a future at Anfield.

Chiesa’s Plymouth performance may have sealed his fate for this season, but his Wembley goal and a run of games to close the season could set the Italian up well for his second Liverpool campaign.
