Liverpool fans will feel right to be aggrieved after the events at Goodison Park last night.

As we wrote about, images have since showed that Everton's Abdoulaye Doucouré was technically offside by the letter of the law, but by PGMOL's own rule changes, he was not.

This ultimately cost the Reds the game and it's yet another controversy that will ignite more fire to the flames suggesting that there is a PGMOL conspiracy against the club.

Especially, in the aftermath of the David Coote videos that surfaced earlier this season.

The referee on the night Michael Oliver has been involved in some contentious decisions in Liverpool matches in the past as well. Including last season when he failed to award a penalty for the high foot on Jeremy Doku against Alexis Mac Allister, which has somehow ended up as an example of a high foot challenge on the Premier League's official page despite it not even being given as a foul.

'Huge error' admission made by former FA referee

And last night Oliver was not just being criticised by Liverpool supporters, but some of his former professionals in the game. That being Keith Hackett, who made a number of tweets admitting Oliver made the wrong decisions on his Twitter account.

"A huge error!! By referee Oliver who did not have his best performance. He needs some coaching advice from the PGMOL. Then I look and see that Lee Mason is the Head of Coaching!!! say no more." Hacket wrote responding to a Twitter user highlighting a free kick that was awarded to Everton.

In another Tweet, Hackett against criticised Oliver and agreed with another user about last night's referee making the wrong calls:

"I agree and I do not think that this was Oliver’s best performance. Too many errors. Thought the yellow card to Robertson was avoidable. Standing in the middle at the end of the game invites trouble. Just get off the field ref."

This is a result that although on the surface might not look that catastrophic for Liverpool but it could absolutely derail the club's season.

Oliver handed out three red cards, including to both Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff after the full time whistle. That means Liverpool will be without them for their next crucial matches.

With the gap just seven points now at the top of the table, every game matters. One defeat and Liverpool's lead at the top looks slim.

The Reds have the right mentality and character in the squad to bounce back. But a decision like this threatens the whole team.

Not just that but the whole season. If Liverpool do indeed now go on a bad run because they feel disenfranchised or if the PGMOL continue to make bad calls and Slot's side fall down the Premier League table, they will lose out on millions.

According to the Economic Times, the winner last season was awarded £62m, that is the kind of money that makes a huge difference to Liverpool.

That is the kind of money they cannot afford to miss out on, especially because of the ineptitude of the PGMOL.
