Liverpool FC news: Club signals the END for Anfield favourite
Liverpool appear to be making moves that would end the Anfield career of Andy Robertson. The Scot's position is under threat.
Andy Robertson's form has been the subject of much debate this season. It reached the point where Kostas Tsimikas seems to have usurped him as the no.1 choice.
It looked that way at the start of the month, certainly, and the Greek left-back starting vs Bayer Leverkusen really hammered it home. Tsimikas has had to wait a long time for that one.
EXCLUSIVE: The MASSIVE cost of Liverpool transfer DOOMSDAY revealed
Robertson was decent against Aston Villa, admittedly, and could well find his way back to being Liverpool's first-choice left-back. But his contract is up in 2026, meaning this summer will trigger his final year.
It feels unlikely he gets a new contract, given his form and how Liverpool dislike paying big money to players over 30. And there's a sign that the Reds are planning for a future without Robertson - one that could start very soon.
Liverpool's new left-back?
Liverpool are linked with Milos Kerkez, per the Mirror. They're very eager to sign the Bournemouth star, it seems, and could pay £50m to get him.
Kerkez is one of the best young left-backs in Europe right now and the added bonus of Premier League experience certainly helps. But it's impossible to see Liverpool spending that money on a player they don't immediately throw into the XI.
And if Liverpool keep one of Tsimikas or Robertson, it would surely be the former. He's younger and actually looks like the better player right now.
His contract supposedly lasts until 2027, too.
So Liverpool's interest in Kerkez would signal an end for Robertson at Liverpool, as far as we see it. An all-time Reds great - enjoy it while it lasts.
