With less than six months remaining on his contract, speculation about the future of the Egyptian King has gone wild in recent months.

Now, one of Salah’s closest friends has weighed in on the situation and fired some not-so-subtle shots at Liverpool’s ownership in the process.

Lovren exposes FSG during rant about Salah’s situation

In a recent interview with Ismael Mahmoud for WinWin sports, former Liverpool star Dejan Lovren shared his opinion on the ongoing contract saga with Salah at the centre and he seemed to aim a dig at FSG.

“There are people with enormous wealth who might not care about who Mohamed Salah is or what he offers on the pitch,” Lovren told Mahmoud. “In the end, they might only look at the financial aspect and say, ‘Well, this player isn’t worth that amount.’ That’s painful.”

Salah is enjoying one of his best seasons at Liverpool, and has shown no signs of slowing down, which is the reason behind Lovren’s frustration.

“I think [letting Salah leave] is the wrong decision because this man still has many years to give.”

Many supporters share the ex-Red’s concerns and also feel that FSG’s priority may not be on-pitch success at Liverpool.

The criticism of FSG

Liverpool’s ownership has been a contentious topic of discussion around Anfield for a number of years now, with topics such as transfer spend, the European Super League and the ongoing contract saga driving a divide between fans.

Lovren’s suggestion that FSG may only be focussed on the financial aspect of Salah’s renewal is one that is mirrored by mans Reds, especially as the Egyptian King reportedly wants to stay put in Merseyside.

Although, as owners of the football club, FSG have a responsibility to ensure that Liverpool remain financially secure, the current form of Salah makes him look worth every penny of a contract extension.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Salah’s contract, but supporters will hope that the powers that be have listened to Lovren and won’t move on from the Egyptian King just yet.

We didn't buy anybody in January because we have a 'strong squad' apparently, if that is so, where the hell was this strong squad on Sunday, the senior players in Sunday's team failed to turn up. Quansah needs to go out on loan because currently he's an accident waiting to happen.Jota needs service if he's to score goals and with Harvey Elliot running around like a headless chicken, the two young midfield players didn't get the help they needed to supply Jota. Oh, just a point Harvey, don't try and make yourself look bigger by throwing your arms up in the air, it really doesn't work.

To let Mo leave is suicidal I have supported Liverpool for over 50 years and to me he is the greatest striker ever no disrespect to Ian Rush , Mo keeps himself in the greatest of shape and fitness he still has a minimum of at least 3 seasons in him for what he has done for the club and for them to disgard him would be a DISGRACE ! give him Van Dyke and Trent new deals if they do not I fear they FSG will loose all support from the fans for ever and their days numbered . YNWA .
